The Picture of Dorian Gray, published in 1891 was Oscar Wilde's only novel. We previously read this book as a group in 2014 and you can find that discussion here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
This is one of our group reads for Q3 (Jul, Aug, Sep) of 2021. Have you read this book before? Are you planning to read it sometime over the next three months? Let's discuss...
Just started reading it and it is really intriguing. Lots of classic Wilde one liners. Looking forward to finishing it next week. I believe this novel was used against Wilde in his court case.
I read this book 7 years ago, wow. In my review I say it's "without a doubt a 5 star book". I'll be honest I do doubt that now, but I don't feel inspired to re-read it so I'll trust my younger self. My sister read Dorian Gray before me and when she finished she was so excited she told me everything. I went into this book already knowing the last line, (plus all the major plotlines and some of the minor ones), an unusual experience but one that just heightened my own excitement. I loved experiencing the journey to get to that, very satisfying, last line. This is one of the first magical realism books I read, a genre I used to hate but now love.
