Queen of Shadows Theories discussion

First, I just want to welcome you to the QOST group!
[Hopefully this will help us all with our frazzled emotions until the book release.]

SJM did a Q&A recently and stated that Ansel WILL be making an appearance in either the fifth or sixth book (not fourth, sadly). Also, Ansel was depicted on SJM's ToG pinterest board...next to a giant lion. HHHmmmm, kitty-cat friend perhaps? Someone asked just that, and SJM responded "you might be on to something..." AH!

Anyhow, here's #1 of my many theories:

Yrene Towers (the healer from TAB) hailed from Southern Fenharrow―a country that had been sieged by Adarlan. Living in a small village with such a powerful healer as a mother, surely her family was well known. It was later mentioned in Heir of Fire that Sorscha ALSO resided in a non-notable village in Fenharrow. This has led me to believe that they probably grew up together, considering Sorscha was the same age as Celaena and Yrene was only 2-3 years older than Celaena. Sorscha had also been studying to become a healer, so she must have had close acquaintances with Yrene and her mother.

Going back to Yrene’s newfound training (thanks to Celaena) she may have also acquired a taste for bloodlust in the short time she had been around the assassin. She may have even been inspired to be a bit more….shall we say, rebellious? It’s very possible that she wants to not only help heal, but also be a part of a greater cause….Perhaps, Ren’s rebel group?

It’s a bit of a stretch, but if she did in fact know Sorscha, then she might have kept in contact with her and, not forgoing her encounter with the assassin whom had forced her out of her comfort-shell, decided to join the rebellion. At some point, she will either arrive in Adarlan to find out what became of her friend or due to Ren sending word for aid.

I also think Ilias (the Mute Master's son) and the Silent Assassins could be making a return as well! And definitely Rolfe, seeing as he was mentioned by Murtagh. By the Wyrd, I hope so.

My theory was always that Yrene and Sorscha were in fact the same person. I think that was plausible because Celaena never met Sorscha so and so there's no confirmation that they don't look alike. It's also easy to lie about your age and pretend to be about 2 years older. But at the same time I always felt my theory was kinda far fetched...

I've actually thought of that too! But Sorscha did meet Celaena because Dorian recalled her to be the one who helped heal her after the duel with Cain. And another thing; SJM keeps posting scenes from Anitca on her pinterest board. Antica hosts the Torre Cesme- the academy for healers (which is where Yrene "should" be). Gah! So much to ponder.

My theory:
Ok, well Nox is a thief from Perrnath and Elide's parents (Lady Marion, Lord Lochan) were The Lord and Lady of Perrnath. Perhaps when her parents were killed Elide became part of the Underworld just like Celaena and she knows Nox, they are friends or something.

Yes!! I completely forgot about that! I wonder how Nox got involved in the competition for King's Champion then. Maybe he did it to spy? It would appear that way.

I met SJM last night, and I'm kind of sobbing writing this, but when I asked about Nox in QoS, Sarah looked me dead in the eye amd asked if I wanted the awful truth. Her editors thought that Nox wasn't important enough to be featured in QoS, so he'll be pushed back to the next book :( so Nox theories are pointless.

And what, no?!! Damn her editors. That really sucks because I was so looking forward to his reappearance. I'm not too disheartened because we will still be getting insight on Galan Ahsryver and the Cadre, but I would have liked to see more "new" and old faces. You'll have to DM me everything you heard!!

I agree! I've thought about the possibility of a betrayal occurring (wherein someone Aelin is/was very close to was also the one who "did the deed" so to say) and I'm not sure who else it could be aside from the man who she both loves and hates (but mostly hates).

I actually have this crackpot theory where Aedion's father was the assassin who slaughtered the Royal Family (despite being a part of it himself). We don't know anything about his father or what he was like. For all we do know, he could have resented his relatives and envied their power in court. I only thought this up because in one of SJM's recent interviews the question regarding who Aedion's father is was asked and she replied "Oh yesssss" WHY THE EXAGERATED CONFIRMATION?? And the following question had to do with the identity of the assassin...But this is only a crackpot theory so it isn't meant to be taken too seriously haha.

PLOT TWIST Arobynn is Aedions father. That's very unlikely and probably impossible but that would be a crazy twist.

I don't know how plausible /if it would even be addressed in QoS, but I read somewhere online that someone thought that the creature thing in the library in CoM could be Sam because it mentioned something about remembering what they did to him on that table. As we know, Sam was tortured. I really really don't want this to be true (poor Sam) but at the same time it would be kind of cool if it was.

P.S here's where I read the idea (https://shadowhunters13.wordpress.com...). I'm not too sure about the last bit with Chaol but I think it may be possible that the creature is Sam or definitely someone else significant.

I had a look around, and SJM has addressed this and said Sam is dead, he is not coming back (sob) and he was not the creature in the hall ;)
