Again, I agree with Sharon. It emphasizes the irony of them being called The Perfect Gentlemen when they are far from perfect.
This was the element of the story that made me hurt for Gus. Why did she need to prove herself to these men, time and again? Of all of them, she’s the most loyal and passed every test she faced.
I’d really like to know the perspectives of the authors on this point. Were they trying to make a point about unconscious sexism? I think so because they really were better men than this.
