I hate Nicola Yoon for (view spoiler)[Writing a sick-lit novel (Everything, Everything) about a girl with SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency; known by some as bubble boy disease), just to have the plot twist be "Oh no, Madeline doesn't have SCID and she's not disabled. Her mother is just mentally ill and has Munchausen's syndrome by proxy." How about no? I hate false advertising. As a person who lives with chronic illness and is disabled, it's insulting that in a book which is supposed to be realistic, there's a plot twist in the end where the character is 'miraculously cured' solely so she can be with the guy she's loved this entire book. Long story short, I'm mad. The thing that was supposed to make this book different was that it was about a girl with SCID who fell in love but couldn't go outside her sterilized house because she could literally die. The love interest kept fighting for her, basically saying that he didn't care if she was sick, he wanted to be with her. Once SCID is taken away, the story is just another YA romance with another non-disabled YA protagonist who falls in love. Honestly, it kind of implies that if you're chronically ill (especially if you have SCID), you can't fall in love and be with someone unless you're told over email that you aren't sick. oooh Alexandria I HATED everything everything. it made me so storming MAD!! I dnf'd it and then read spoilers for the end which made me even more mad!!!

I genuinely loved the first half. Then the second half went downhill for me.

yeah the second half....wow. I couldn't stand it lol

I hate Natalie Standiford because (view spoiler)[the school that Claire goes to is extremely sexist and says all the boys are much better then girls. And they parents basically don’t do anything. PLUS! Someone with braces does not “slobber around” and if he likes you, at least don’t be like “I hate him” and “he has gross braces”. There is nothing wrong with braces!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve probably talked a lot about how I hated this book. And I made my review for it all about how I didn’t like it. (hide spoiler)] Also it was a DNF, but anyone who really knows me knows that. No offense to anyone who doesn’t! I still love all you guys!

I knew about the plot twist going into it, but I had held in all judgement because I don't like to judge things if I haven't read/watched them. Yeah, turns out the bad reviews I had seen weren't wrong. I feel bad for anyone who has SCID (or something just as severe) who read this, thinking they were finally going to be represented, just to have a rug pulled out from under them.

I hate Stephenie Meyer for (view spoiler)[ making all the main relationships in her book all be between minors and adults. In Twilight, Bella and Edward. Edward is over 100 years old and he's in love with a 17 year old. Even after Bella turns 18, the issue is still there because Edward was 17 when he was turned into a vampire. Don't even get me started on Jacob and Renesme. In the Host, Melanie and Jared's first kiss and their attraction starts before Melanie turns 18. Ian is over 18 and Wanda's final body that she goes in is a minor's body and she lies about the age of the body that she's in so that she can still be with Ian (hide spoiler)]
