Honestly, I almost didn't use spoiler tags, but I know some ppl are very averse to preconceptions so now you're safe. :)

I can't figure out how it was written by two people.
I found it more difficult than most of the poetry I choose to read.
I am intrigued by the recommendation for Travel Light by Naomi Mitchison.

So you and your husband have different tastes in books? He seemed to really like it based on your post above and you not so much.

And don't get me wrong. I did like it. As it turns out, it is all about the character development... so I'm kinda bemused that my husband liked it. He listened to it in audio, so maybe that's different?
Any of you do the audio?

I don’t like audio. I prefer to read. I get distracted trying to listen to a book.
My husband made a comment a few months back about news programs. He would want me to go watch something and told him I already read an article on it. He finally says “you like to read the news and not watch it.” Duh….35 years and he just figured that out!

Audio is difficult for me, too. I generally do it only on my daily walk, as my route is so routine. And still only with easier books... this one, I just can't imagine listening to.

I don't get the five stars reviews. For me it was a one. Snooze fest.
I am considering stopping this one. I got the audiobook and I've listened to most of the first disk and I don't totally understand what it going on, no do I care about these characters. Does it get better?

Maria, I loved the writing too. I like Jeff VanderMeer and the writing kind of me reminded me of him.
They were trying to push events to a certain end and travelled forward, backward and into all branches of time to get the future each wanted. Which makes me wonder if Red and Blue were from the same time line or different?

In the ashes of a dying world, Red finds a letter marked "Burn before reading."
So begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents in a war that stretches through the vast reaches of time and space.
Red belongs to the Agency, a post-singularity technotopia. Blue belongs to Garden, a single vast consciousness embedded in all organic matter. Their pasts are bloody and their futures mutually exclusive. They have nothing in common---save that they're the best, and they're alone.
Now what began as a battlefield boast grows into a dangerous game, one both Red and Blue are determined to win. Because winning's that you do in war. Isn't it?
A tour de force collaboration from two powerhouse writers that spans the whole of time and space.
Discussion begins August 1st and remember to include spoiler tags.
Happy Reading!
