Vickie | 38 comments Good morning. I have finished two more books in July. Wild Escape: The Prison Break From Dannemora and The Manhunt That Captured America, by Chelsia Rose Marcius and The North Face of the Heart by Delores Redondo. I enjoyed them both. 3 stars for the first, 4 stars for the latter. That puts me at 6 books completed.

Rose (arosefromthedead) | 81 comments Last week I finished You People and The Right Swipe. You People was beautiful and heartbreaking, and The Right Swipe was a perfect "beach read" for a day on the boat.

Kristopher Aadahl (hawaiianguy3) | 24 comments Yay! Now I'll have something cooler than my Market 32 bag to walk my books back to the library with!

message 7: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodysquadere) | 80 comments Finished “The Newcomer” and starting “Under A Dancing Star@ by Laura Wood. My summer stack keeps growing and I can’t keep up.

message 8: by Farzin (new)

Farzin Shargh (shompat) | 6 comments I have finished 4 books since the last time:

The Thursday Murder Club:
The writing style was not for me but the setting gave me The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, 83¼ Years Old vibes.

Little Fires Everywhere:
Finally hopped on the bandwagon and I'm mad at myself for waiting this long.

We Crossed a Bridge and It Trembled: Voices from Syria:
Super pver-hyped in my opinion. I get it, it was sad. But it was not as depressing as everyone made it seem. I wonder if, after more than a decade, the author did the interviews again, would people change their opinion on the past? Are things better now?

Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books:
Just to keep in touch with my roots 😔✌️

Susan D'Entremont (susande) | 286 comments After reading excerpts over the years, I finally read A People's History of the United States from cover to cover - all 700 pages of it. I now understand why we were never assigned the entire book in school.

message 20: by Jaybee (new)

Jaybee | 78 comments I just finished Clean Getaway by Nic Stone, which I read with my son for the library’s crafty readers book club. I don’t remember middle grade and YA books being as good when I was a kid!

message 21: by Paul (new)

Paul R | 66 comments I finished one book this week. Catalyst. It was a good medical suspense romance. The emphasis was on those three items in that order. The locale is a big Pittsburgh medical center. It is the second part of a good series.

message 22: by Kate (new)

Kate | 297 comments I have logged all the book up to this point. Great job everyone!

Congrats Jaybee and Paul you have completed the Summer Reading Challenge!

Thanks for the suggestion. This sounds like a good series to add to my "to-read" list.

message 28: by Rich (new)

Rich Pearson-strain (richpearson-strain) | 54 comments For week 6 I read “The City We Became” by N.K. Jemisin. First in a trilogy, it had a slower start than some of her other novels, but definitely setting things up for a wild ride.

message 29: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra C | 135 comments @Rich, I added your completed book! Great job!

message 30: by ED (new)

ED | 25 comments I finished reading The Traveler's Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success which is a narrative/spiritual journey/historical fiction. The story encouraged me to delve into deeper aspects of history including learning about Joshua Chamberlain of Maine, a former school teacher, who turned the tide of the Civil War. Andrews' narrative also aroused my curiosity of the engineering feats of the Cuencan temples of South America, and the builders of Baalbek in Lebanon that mystify the engineers of this time period. So all in all it was a fun read.

message 31: by ED (new)

ED | 25 comments I finished the audiobook, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark. I wanted to read it since Rebecca Roanhoarse, author of Black Sun, wrote one of the sections on Darth Maul. It's an anthology of stories from characters in the Star Wars Universe. I was so impressed with this audiobook. The sound effects make the experience completely immersive and the voice talent sound like the actors who actually played the roles in the movies. This was a lot of fun to experience.
