For this book we will do updates for every third of the book.

Update 1: First third

When I say I want a dark academia book, this is what I mean. This book has a private school, teachers with secrets and students trying to get good grades. Thus far it is wild. Teddy comes off as odd and creepy (specifically his love of milk). Sonia is conceited and somewhat jealous. Zack is honestly just trying to make it through school. I love the characterization in this book, everybody feels so fleshed out to me. I am really enjoying the book thus far.

This story just keeps getting wilder. There are altering perspectives, which I am not normally into, but it works so well in this book. The plot has just been so interesting and engaging, I am just really enjoying it.

Update 3: Third Third

I really liked the ending! Although everything seemed to be tied up rather quickly, I still like the choices that were made. I specifically liked how the PE teacher was the one who got Croucher and that Zack became a teacher (presumably becoming just like Croucher).

Croucher was such an interesting character because he had so many flaws. As a person who has read a lot of thrillers, I find the idea of the perfect psychopath that makes no mistakes boring. It made the story more thrilling in a way because anyone is a possible victim due to the mistakes of the killer.

I also thought that Zack was also an interesting character. He gave me Ferris Bueller vibes, but he also the naivety of any other teen. His original intentions were so good, but for him to flip completely on the last few pages is absolutely wild. He saw all of the problems Croucher caused with his little plots and he still decided to become like him??? I may not entirely follow the logic, but I still appreciate the choice. Maybe it was because he liked how Croucher challenged him in an otherwise boring life (in his mind).
