Hi, Joy! This is such a difficult question to answer. I'm terrible at picking a favorite when it comes to anything, and especially regarding books. I write contemporary romance but my reading tastes are far more eclectic. I love mystery books, and also enjoy reading some fantasy and non-fiction ones. It really depends on my mood and also the book itself. There are some authors who are extremely talented at jumping between genres and exploring new tropes, and I love following along on that journey both as a reader and a fellow author.

Hi, Kathryn! For me, it's undoubtedly the reader feedback. I'll receive some notes from my beta readers and editor, along with some early reviews, but it's not until a book is released that I'll have the opportunity to hear from a larger chunk of readers and see what they think of the book. It's both exciting and nerve-wracking. Obviously I'm hoping most readers enjoy the book, but hearing what they didn't like is also useful in terms of making plot or character decisions in future books. It's also incredibly rewarding to finally see the fruition of months of work out in the world, so I try to savor that as much as I can!

Hi, Nicole! I just finished writing the sequel for a baseball romance (it's called "The Easy Way Out") and am finishing up revisions before I sent it to my editor. That book will be released in September. I'm also working on a hockey romance that will likely come out this October!

Hi, Mika! I don't have any kids, but I feel like this is the equivalent of asking which is your favorite one. ;) I spend months and months thinking and writing about my characters, so by the time I finish the book it feels like they're real people I've known for years. That being said, I'm very attached to Saylor Scott (from my book "First Flight, Final Fall"). She's completely and unapologetically herself, and I also wrote a lot of personal characteristics and quirks into her. Another one that stands out is Ryder James (from "Come Break My Heart Again"). He faces a lot of adversity in his life, but doesn't let unfair challenges or circumstances keep him from pursuing what he truly wants. Too often we focus on what is wrong with our lives rather than what is making us happy, and I pushed Ryder to the extreme to deliver that message.

Hi, Monica! I love these two questions, and I've never gotten either of them before. The main reason I love writing about sports is the opportunities it provides. Sport allows for so many fantastic moments to be created. During games there's the chance to create vivid moments and tension. There are the dynamics between players, between teams, and between players and coaches to work with. Athletes as characters intrigue me because they often have a dedication and drive that is entertaining to apply to other aspects of life, specifically love and relationships. That's also part of my inspiration behind writing about sports and doing my best to create that same feeling of excitement or anticipation watching sports on the page of a book. As a former athlete myself, I didn't feel like there was much representation of female athletes in sports romance books. Oftentimes the only athlete in the book is the hero. I pushed back against that in "First Flight, Final Fall," where I made a concerted effort to write not just a female athlete, but one who was talented and driven and owned both those traits.

Hi, Ashley! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorites as well and I've written several so far. A couple of my others are second chance and fake relationship!
