Touraine is a soldier. Stolen as a child and raised to kill and die for the empire, her only loyalty is to her fellow conscripts. But now, her company has been sent back to her homeland to stop a rebellion, and the ties of blood may be stronger than she thought.

Luca needs a turncoat. Someone desperate enough to tiptoe the bayonet's edge between treason and orders. Someone who can sway the rebels toward peace, while Luca focuses on what really matters: getting her uncle off her throne.

Through assassinations and massacres, in bedrooms and war rooms, Touraine and Luca will haggle over the price of a nation. But some things aren't for sale.

It was! I had to move dates because of my library hold. But it will still be active the 13th so don't change your schedule for me!

First quarter - (view spoiler)[Touraine is such a great MC. She is proving to be my favourite character so far. I'm eager to learn more about why exactly she was taken as a child and conscripted into the army. She saved the princess from an assassination attempt and so those in power have begun to notice her, although not all of them for the right reasons. (hide spoiler)]

Hey Andy, I think I'm going to set this book asides for now. I started reading it when I wasn't in the best place and now whenever I pick it back up I can't connect to the story. I feel I'll really love it in the future, as I see you did, so will hopefully return to it and enjoy it more then, instead :)
