Hannah | 3296 comments Whilst I have read and enjoyed lots of books set during WW2, I think this is the first book I have read set in Hungary during this period. The book starts in 1937 with Andras Levi moving to Paris to study architecture, and we then follow him and his family until the conclusion of the war. I learned a lot about Hungary during WW2, and this was not a book I wanted to rush through due to the amount of detail and development.

Booknblues | 12060 comments A few of us did a buddy read of this when I read it. It was really good.

Jgrace | 3939 comments This was a 5 star read for me. I also gave 5 stars to her more recent book, The Flight Portfolio.

Doughgirl5562 | 960 comments This was a near 5-star book for me also. I went on a river cruise in 2018 that included Budapest, and asked this group for recommendations for books set in Budapest. This book came highly recommended. But this is a lengthy book, so I went with a different book instead because the other book was shorter. And you know what? I STILL haven't finished the other book two years later. But I did read The Invisible Bridge after returning. This was the book that I should have read before going to Budapest. We took a bus tour of the old Jewish section of Budapest. The sights that I saw kept coming back to me while reading this novel.
