20.7 - Shorter is Sweeter - Bookwrm526's task: Geocaching Time Again!

Now that fall is almost here, I can finally start to geocaching again without worrying about dying in the heat! My whole family loves to geocache, but it is hard to get motivated in the south in the summer LOL. In honor of this hobby, read 1 book that fits one of the options below.

Required: State the option when you post.

Option 1: Read a book whose author initials (middle initials can be ignored) can be found in the phrase GEOCACHING.

Option 2: My favorite kind of cache is the mystery or puzzle cache. For this option, read a book that meets SRC rules, including those for children's books, and can be found on one of these lists:
Mystery Books Puzzles Whodunnits And Surprises
Mysteries that integrate puzzles/riddles/clues
Required: State which list you used and, if the list is multiple pages, which page of the list your book can be found on when you post.

Option 3: My second favorite type of cache is an Earthcache, which uses the game to teach you something about nature, ecology, geology, etc. For this option, read a non-fiction book with the main page genre Earth Sciences, Geology, or Climate Change. The genre may be stand-alone or embedded.

Robin P | 1610 comments A word of caution - The last 2 books on the list of Mystery Books are individual stories of under 30 pages. I see you have stated the book must meet SRC rules. so of course those wouldn't qualify.

Those stories come from the collection The Innocence of Father Brown, which is over 200 pages, and which I have. Would that book be acceptable?

If it's not acceptable for Option 2, it should be for Option 1.

That's funny, I didn't even realize the author initials would work for Option 1!

Noted, thank you! That sounds really interesting.

Hi! I THINK the rule on anthologies is that the actual anthology has to meet the requirements (in this case be on the list), but I'm not sure. But, since Aprilleigh pointed out that it works for option 1, I hope that's ok :)

Yes, Jessica, that's correct. The actual anthology would have to be on the list to use it for that option.

Jessica (vividomestic) Can I have A Brief History of Earth: Four Billion Years in Eight Chapters noted for Geology? Thanks :)

Teri-K For option 1 is it ok for the author to only have one initial as long as it works? I'm trying to fit The Odyssey by Homer someplace.

Tasks have been finalized, which means the default rules apply. From the Default Rules: "3. If a task call for author's initials, can I use an author who uses only one name?
If the task does not specify, the author must use two or more names."

Ok. I didn't know there was a rule that applied to this situation. Thanks for the clarification.

The Wife Between Us is written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. GH fits the bill for Option 1, but SP does not - does this work for you?

Hi Insiyah! I'm sorry, but since I didn't specify otherwise in the task, the default rule applies. The default rule is that in tasks involving author's names, initials or other characteristics, books by a single author must be used.
