1.3 MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY (9/16)
Choose One of the following tasks

a. Freedom from Spain
Read a book whose Author's last name starts with S•P•A•I or N.
b. Read a book whose Author is Mexican/ Mexican American.
c. Mexican Flag
Read a book that has a predominately GREEN, WHITE, or RED cover (50%+) Show cover.


1.4 ROALD DAHL DAY (9/13)
Born: September 13, 1916
Choose one of the following tasks
a. His Books
His books have sold more than 250 million copies
Read one of his books.
b. WW II
During the war, he was a fighter (R.A.F.) pilot and later a secret agent.
Read a book that is set during WWII -OR- the MC is a spy.
c. Hollywood Ties
After the war, he was a screenwriter and met Actress Patricia Neal. They were married for 30 years and had 5 children.
Read a book about a famous actress (F/NF) -OR- the author's 1st name is Patricia.

1.6 READING THROUGH THE ALPHABET: LETTER N
Read a book that starts with the Letter N (exclude A, An, or The) such as: The Night She Disappeared, Never Saw You Coming, The Noise
BONUS POINT: Read another book starting with the LETTER N.

1.7 (Linda C's task) ELEPHANT APPRECIATION DAY (9/22) & INTERNATIONAL RABBIT DAY (9/25)
Read a book with an elephant or a rabbit on the cover (show cover) OR with the word elephant or rabbit in the text (give location and quote)

1.8 FIXER UPPER

Do ONE of the following tasks

a. WATER: Find an author who's First and Last initials are in the word WATER
b. TILES: Pick a book with a cover that is at least 50% white/or 50% black/or 50% gray. Show cover.
c. BLINDS: Pick a book with a VIEW outside (give sentence and page #) or in the title - e.g. A Room with a View

2.3 (Tessa's task) HAPPY READING
Read 2 books
September has several celebrations having to do with reading, from Banned Books Week to International Literacy Day, and the whole month has been designated Library Card Month.

1. Read a book where the 1st letter of each title word can be found in : INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY (All words count and 3-word minimum)

2. Read a book by an author whose first and last initials are in: LIBRARY CARD (Middle initials, if used, can be ignored. Letters may be used only as often as they appear in the phrase; you have 3 R's, 2 A's, but only 1 each of the other letters)

2.4 (Tessa's task) BACK TO SCHOOL
Read 2 books
1. Read a book with a main character who is either a student or a teacher (any level of schooling) - tell us who and what role.

2. Read a book where the title begins with a letter in: RECESS (ignore leading articles: A, An, The)
2.5 (Susan's task) FALL ACTIVITIES
Read 2 books where:

The main character is a football player.
-OR-
The main character prepares for winter: rakes leaves, cuts firewood, joins the Night's Watch.
How does your character prepare for winter? (Give a sentence and page number).

THREE POINT TASK

3.1 (Linda C's task) BEGINNING OF FALL
Read 3 books
Choose 3 of the following tasks

a. Read a book with a cover that is more than 50% Red, Orange, Yellow or Brown ( show cover)
b. Read a book with a Fall scene on the cover (show cover) or that takes place in autumn (can mention season or Fall month – indicate which
c. Read a book originally published in September of any year – give date
d. Read a book with a 9 in the page number of the edition you read – give page number
e. Read a book with an apple on the cover (show cover)

FIVE POINT TASK

5.1 TBR: REVIVAL: SERIES
Read 5 books

Its time to look at our TBR and see what series we haven't completed. (the books below don't have to be from the same series.)
List series your books came from.

1. Read a book in a series on your TBR list that is Book 1
(It been on your TBR list and haven't got around to it).
2. Read a book in a series on your TBR list that is Book 2.
3. Read a book in a series on your TBR list that is Book 3.
4. Read a book in a series on your TBR list that is Book 4.
5. Read a book in a series on your TBR list that is Book 5.
