Hi everyone! If you're reading this, that's super exciting and I'm so glad you're here! This discussion post is for us to introduce ourselves and hopefully become life-long pals!

Please post your name and your favorite romantic comedy! You can also include any fun facts you'd like to share.
I'll go first --

My name is Emily and my favorite romantic comedy is THE EX-TALK by Rachel Lynn Solomon. I bought that book as a present for myself after I had my son back in March, actually unsure of whether or not I would like it. I ended up loving it and I'm hoping to re-read it before the year is over!

GaffersGirl | 6 comments Hi. My name is Jen. This is the first group I've joined on Goodreads but it looked fun.

I honestly don't think I can name one favorite RomCom. I love pretty much everything by Christina Lauren. I really like Kristen Callihan, Emma Chase, Lauren Layne, etc. etc.

The last couple 5 stars I gave were for Soulmate Equation, and Red,White, and Royal Blue. Anyway, nice to meet ya!

Hi, Jen! Nice to meet you! I'm so sorry I'm seeing your introduction so late. It's been a very long couple of months for me. But thank God for books, right! I'm hoping to read Soulmate Equation as soon as it's available from the library! Sounds like a great book!

message 4: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 5 comments Hi everyone! My name is Kimberly. I'm new to Goodreads and this is the first group I've joined, so I'm still trying to figure out how it all works. My favorite rom-com has to be "The Hating Game." I'm so excited the movie is coming out soon! And of course I love anything by Christina Lauren. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and hearing some of your book recommendations!

message 5: by GaffersGirl (new)

GaffersGirl | 6 comments Hi Kimberly! Welcome. I read The Hating Game over the summer. I had no idea there was an upcoming movie. Good to know!

message 6: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 5 comments Did you like "The Hating Game" when you read it? It was one I'd taken a chance on since kindle was selling it for $1 at the time and it was so worth it. The movie comes out next Friday, I can't wait to see it!

message 7: by GaffersGirl (new)

GaffersGirl | 6 comments I did like it. The writing style was a bit odd. I can't explain that further because I didn't get what was odd about it really but I just remembered it being different. But, overall I thought the story was sweet and the characters were likeable.

Welcome to the group Kimberly! I have yet to read The Hating Game though I have started it a couple of times. I'm not sure I had trouble getting in to it -- maybe it's the writing style like Jen mentioned -- but I saw the trailer for the movie and it looks great so I'll have to read it quickly!

message 9: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 5 comments Oh really? It's been awhile since I read it, so I don't really remember the writing style. Jen, I totally agree with you the story is sweet and I loved the characters. Emily, if you decide to give it another try, let me know what you think! Or you could just skip reading the book if you can't get into the writing style and just watch the movie instead haha

message 10: by aastha (new)

message 16: by Lena (new)

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments Hi everyone!
I'm Lena, posting from the UK and I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you!
I've been in a rom-com mood for a few months now, devouring one book after another, so I thought I'd finally join a group here to meet some people who can relate :) I feel like I read so many good books lately that I'd love to share my love for them with other bookworms.
So... anyone up for a little group read? I'm not sure what the rules here are as it's my first post or any activity on goodreads besides an occasional review, so i'm probably posting it in the wrong place, but if anyone's up for it, so am I! :) I don't mind rereading something, either.
:)

message 17: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 5 comments Hi Lena! I'd love to do a group read! I think that sounds like fun! Do you already have a book in mind?

message 18: by Lena (new)

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments Great! Maybe one of these?
1. Better Than the Movies
2. A Lot Like Adiós
3. The Reading List

But if you'd rather read something else I'm open to other suggestions :)

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments Hi Lu! The Love Hypothesis was definitely my favourite romcom of 2021. People we meet on Vacation was very, VERY good, too. I was glad to see it win the Goodreads Choice best romance award this year! Have you read it?
Oh, and The Spanish Deception is a gem too!
Wanna join me and Kimberly for a little group read?

Anna A. Lane (annaalane) | 119 comments Hello!
My name is Anna and I'm totally new to Goodreads, yet it has soon become my favourite bookish place! There are SO much books I've found on here I'd otherwise never found.
For as long as I can remember romcoms are my favourite both in films and books. I've read and loves so much of them I can't pick favourites. I've been looking for a place like this and I hope I can make a ton of new friends here!

message 30: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (rhammond83) | 1 comments Hello all, I’m Rachael. From Illinois. I adore rom coms, both movies and books. They are the absolute best in my opinion. My favorite book though I will say I absolutely positively HATED the movie, was “can you keep a secret?” By Sophie kinsella. I hadn’t really been into rom coms as a book genre much until I forgot the book I was currently reading at the time at home when I was at the airport awaiting a 4 hr flight. This was pre movies on your phone era. Anywho my flight got delayed overnight so I picked this book up at the airport store and between the delay and the flight I had ended up reading it in entirety because I just couldn’t stop.

I just finished “Get a life Chloe brown” by talia hibbert.
But so far my favorite for this year that I was just introduced to was “the Spanish love deception” by Elena armas.

I will admit I am scrolling thru reading what you all have written so that I can find what to read next! Thanks so much for the group of like minded people!

message 31: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments Hi! I’m Katie! Im a junior engineering student at USC and I absolutely love book recommendations. Like any at all because I pretty much read a book a day. I have zero self control when I go to the bookstore and literally buy 12 books at a time. The guy at barnes and noble knows my phone number for my discount that’s how bad it is. My other crazy tendency is that I don’t like waiting to find out what happens so I read most books in one sitting. I hate cliffhangers! I used to be a huge rom com reader, then I leaned heavily into fantasy books, and now I’m back on my rom com streak.

My current favorite rom com is “How Sweet It Is” by Dylan Newton. I absolutely love it.
My most recent rom com read is “Spoiler Alert” by Olivia Dade. Ranked it 6 on rom coms I’ve read so far this year.
And my next read is either gonna be “Beach Read” or “Good Girl Complex”

If anyone annotates their books and has any tips I’m always looking for better ways to annotate!!
Or any recommendations!!

message 32: by Anika (new)

Anika :) | 2 comments Hey! My name’s Anika and I’m from Austria! ☀️
I always loved reading, but I started reading rom-coms because of an recommendation from my best friend - since then, I’m OBSESSED!

One of my favorite rom-com is “It ends with us” - I know, i know, i know, this book is really popular rn and every second person is sayin “It ends with us is my fav book”, but trust me when i tell you: this book made me cry so many times and i’m not an emotional person AT ALL! I’ve read it 3 times and i always needed a whole package of handkerchiefs 😭

Am i funny? Sometimes i do think i’m the funniest person on earth but i really am NOT funny at all haha :’)
Next to reading, i absolutely love going to the gym, baking and swimming! ☀️

I hope my little introduction was informative - if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Nicky W. (Bookstacks_and_Coffeecups) | 59 comments Hi Everyone my name is Nicky. I'm from Northern Ontario
I've been on Goodreads for a while but just recently started writing more reviews and I'm pretty active on Bookstagram. I haven't joined any groups till now but I've just recently started reading more Rom-Coms so this seemed like a nice fit. I think my two favorites recently were The Buy-In by Emma St.Clair (well pretty much any of her books) and I loved Shipped by Angie Hockman.

message 34: by natalia (new)

natalia | 0 comments Hello everyone, my name is Natalia and although I have been using Goodreads for almost a year now, it was not until recently I decided to start writing reviews and engaging more with the lovely people on this app.

I have been reading rom-coms consecutively for about two years now, and it has easily become my favourite genre, which is why I am looking to obsess over some gems with those who too have a similar love for them!

As for my favourites, I could not put down “The Marriage Game”, “The Little Bookshop Under the Sienne”, and “The Wedding Ringer”, and I could not recommend those enough! Currently I am speeding through the “Love in the City” series by Jen Morris, and I can easily see these becoming my favourites.

My goal has always been to write a book, so I am currently in the midsts of beginning the planning for a potential rom-com; however, I am still a full-time student so who knows if I will even find the time..

Feel free to message me anytime! :)

message 35: by Bry (new)

Bry Mundrean (brymundrean) | 1 comments Hey everyone. I am new to this group, but not goodreads. I have to say I usually only use goodreads to set goals, find books, and keep track of my reading. However, this year I plan to be more intentional with writing reviews and getting involved in discussions.

I love rom-coms. I don't indulge in them all the time, but in-between series or when I need light reading. I have been extremely disappointed by some of the books I have read that left me without laughing.

Some of the best rom-coms I have found, have been on Amazon prime, by authors who are less popular. My favorite book has to be "You Complicate Me"
by Isabel Jordan

message 36: by eileen (new)

eileen | 1 comments Hey everyone! My name is Eileen, and I am so excited to finally join a group on Goodreads.

My favourite Rom-Com authors are Sarah Sutton, Kasie West and Rachel Harris.

My all-time favourite book series is My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris. It is the best, and it tided me through really rocky times a few years back.

Pleasure to meet you all! ❤️

Kate Fredrick | 2 comments Hi Everyone!
My name is Kate and I'm excited to find a group of Rom Com loving readers. I'm from Northern Illinois.
I just discovered this genre of books within the last year. During COVID I re-ignited my passion for reading and need of something sweet and heart warming.
My favorite Rom Com has been The Cheat Sheet By Sarah Adams but in all honestly I'm a lover of all love stories.
I can't wait to engage with some love swooning readers!

message 38: by Rosa (new)

Rosa DA (rosada) | 6 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Rosa and I live in Florida. Before covid I used to read historical novels, but in the past months I started reading love comedies because they make me happy. Now I’m addicted.

The romantic comedies that I’ve loved the most are “P.S from Paris,” “Madame Love, Actually,” “Life’s too short,” and “The happy ever after Playlist.” They all made me laugh, cry and feel happy and hopeful. I really like Abby Jimenez and can’t wait to read her new book. I’m so excited to connect with all of you, discover wonderful books and share our love for romance.

Rose Amberly (roseamberly) Hi Everyone, I'm Rosie
I'm new(ish) to GR. I've been a member for ages but never really had the time to get involved until now.
How can I choose one booko out of so, so many choices. Here are some of my all-time fave rom-coms:

I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. This had me laughing on the train and people looking at me funny.

The Little Bookshop of Love Stories by Jaimie Admans. A completely lovely read about two clumsy people that keep falling over, falling in love with books and with each other

And A Good Heart is Hard to Find by Trisha Ashley. I just loved the woman who dresses all in black and goes walking in graveyards at night to get inspiration for her next gothic horror novel

So many more but these will do for a start
xx
