This story was written late in the series but is positioned as the prequel. Did you feel as if you were missing something or were you just fine?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments As Marcus and Daisy's story, it was great. Having no reference for this series, I wondered how the Rock Chicks fit in. I'm not sure if we shouldn't have left it till the end.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments It didn't feel like a prequel to me. I don't know anything about the series, but it didn't feel like an introduction of characters. I'll find out when I read more books.

I did feel like I was missing something. Who are the Rock Chicks? Why are they called Rock Chicks? To me this book seems to round out a story like an epilogue.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments Having read the entire series (some books more than once) beforehand, I was happy to go back in time. For me, it made the epilogue all that more enjoyable.

Laura I think having this as a prequel was somewhat spoilery in that the epilogue gave all the couples and how many kids they have etc, as well as Daisy’s job etc. That stuff should have been left out. It didn’t bother me since I’ve read the series but I would have been confused.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I skipped over the references to the Rock Chicks, their husbands and kids. I figured we would meet them all in detail in the series.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments Was this a one book selection or are we going to read the entire series??

We are reading the entire series (see the schedule in the 2-3-4 Challenge group).

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments Thanks, Jonetta!

You’re welcome.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I've read the first 2 books in the series, so I knew in advance who Daisy and Marcus were as well as some of the other characters mentioned (the Rock Chicks and company) and this helped me identify with the story even more than if I had read it before beginning the series.

So, even though it is technically a prequel, I would recommend reading it later in the series or even at the end, especially as there are very minor spoilers in the epilogue.

I went to KA’s website and she recommended reading it as 8.5 but agreed to place it as a true prequel.

I read the first book years ago and don’t remember it at all. So, I have no recollection of Daisy and Marcus.

I’m glad I read it first because knowing Daisy’s backstory will have to be helpful. I’ll probably listen to the epilogue again when we reach the last book. It was the only time I felt like I was missing something.

Ashley's reading order post on her website is very helpful because there are quite a few crossovers with her series and some books in one series should be read before other books in a different series. I've made myself a list, of course!

I put the link to it in the series post. You pointed that out to me years ago, after I’d started Colorado Mountain, and I never forgot it😏

message 16: by Lynn (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lynn (ftbooklover) Most of it seemed like a prequel, but the parts when other characters were referred to as couples were a bit spoilery for future books.
