Sky | 1291 comments So all the characters are reunited in time and place. I love it when that finally happens in a book, and in this book it's been a long time coming, especially for Tamas and Taniel.

I've been waiting for the reunion and reconciliation of Tamas and Taniel and I found it really touching. It's great to finally see a bit of the loving/big softie side of Tamas :)

I was a little disappointed in the battle scene with the Kez...Maybe because I was listening to it on audio in the gym, but I found it a little underwhelming. But how about Nila laying waste to 3500 kez troops?

I continue to really like Bo, I think the Bo-Nila and Taniel-Kapoel interactions are so cute :P

I really hope Mihali shows up again. I miss the mad chef god!

Sky | 1291 comments BTW does anyone remember from the last book where Kressimir ended up? I know Kapoel has him contained with her effigy in a box, but where is his body physically? Last I remember from TCC, he was totally insane in that castle/keep, and Taniel punched him and jumped out the window. And then there was the battlefield scene where he was strung up with (Julia?), and Kressimir was there as well I think but I can't remember the order of events.

Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments Poor Josep :( what a shitty way to end up. Really feel for Adamat.

And agreed about all the characters meeting back. I honestly expected it to take a lot longer than it did; seems authors like to drag that type of stuff out.

Nila's scene was excellent but, yeah, the battle was pretty underwhelming. I'm hoping the next one or two make up for it. We haven't gotten any kick-ass powder made action going on. Did we ever get an explanation as to why she can do her magic thing without gloves? Would be nice to know

Loved Bo's scene with Taniel and explaining how fear is an excellent motivator. Cracked me up

Things seem to setting up nicely. So far I think this has been the best, most well paced book in the series. Hope we get to see Taniel and Tamas fight together

Bill | 1596 comments Lots of awesome stuff in this section.

@Sky - I have been trying to remember what happened to Kressimir the whole book.

@Scott - I am not sure we got an explanation for Nila but I would guess that since she is so powerful she doesn't need the gloves to focus.

The reunions between Taniel/Tamas and Taniel/Bo were both great. It will be interesting to see how Mcclellan is able to weave the story going forward if he doesn't split them all up again. I like how Bo calls Ka-Poel little sister. I don't know why but that little touch makes his character seem more personal to me. Don't know if that is the right way to say it.

I was ok with the battle as it showed it from the pov perspective and gave the broad overview after. It kind of reminded me of the battles in Paul Kearney's Monarchies of God series although Kearney probably does it better.

Josep's fate was sad for Adamat but I feel like it will probably turn into something bigger later on like him turning on the Kez or killing a main character. I kind of miss Adamat's detective sections in this one.

I'm pretty sure I called Josep last book. Sorry to be right though. Seemed like the obvious thing though.

I didn't find the battle underwhelmig. There is more to come later it seems. Plus I think the battle was more to add Tension to the reunions.

Really enjoying it so far, now that I finally have some time to read.

Mark | 482 comments I think the battle was written just right we were seeing it through the eyes of Nila and Admant who really know nothing about warfare and combat.

Suzanne | 1582 comments One thing the battle did was highlight Tamas the master stategist - I like how as soon as he arrived at camp he started coming up with a battle plan. I guess we were also shown that Nyla is powerful!

I don't remember exactly what happened to Kressimir last book either. And I sure miss Mihali!

Sky | 1291 comments Hehe...yeah that was pretty cool that he fought the battle in his head a day in advance
