I found THE LIBRARY BOOK to be like a collection of essays with repeated topics playing leap frog. That kept me turning the pages, perhaps more than the straightforward reporting might have. As in, “Hey, what’s next?”

Just like any other "whodunit" I was looking for the case to be solved. How did the fire start? Who started it? Meanwhile, I learned all about libraries, and in particular the history of LA along with the history of the library itself. Still puzzled about the lack of news at the time of the fire.

Caroline, I, too, was hoping for the mystery to be solved by the end of the book. But at the same time, I didn't want Harry to be the guilty party, I felt kind of sorry for him with his rotten upbringing.

I love it when the books we choose provide a new education!

Yes, so interesting that women were/are allowed influence the life of the library. As you say, what an eye opening look at an ever evolving institution.
