We know that it's pretty late to start a 2021 reading challenge, but on suggestion of one of our members, Shera, we have it here!



So, this challenge will be simple and straightforward, you only need to read minimum 2 books per month to successfully complete this challenge. i.e., 24 books in all to complete the yearly goal!

These 2 books will be of your own choice, but of course, there are some extra criteria which CAN be fulfilled for more points. These 2 books must have been read in the month concerned. Read the criteria and scoring below:-

a. Read any 2 books per month?- 2 points.
b. Read 2 books per month following 1 or more criteria? Add the points as below:-

-1. The books are of same author/genre (both books)- 1 point extra.
-2. The books are read on even/odd dates(both books)- 2 points extra
-3. The books are reread (both books)- 2 points extra
-4. The books are adapted into Tv series/movies (both books)- 3 points extra
-5. The books start with a vowel in title(both books) ( A/An don't count)- 3 points extra
-6. The books are completed on same date(both books): 4 points extra.
-7. The books are buddy read in any group (both books)- 5 points extra.

c. Read more than 2 books per month? Select only 2 to count for the criteria above, and rest can be counted individually, 1 point per book.

So, for example , if you read 4 books in January 2021, out of which 2 books also follow the criteria 1 and 5, then you earn total, 2+1+3=6 points for these 2 books. For the remaining 2, you earn 2 more points, so your monthly score becomes 8.

It's not compulsory for the books to follow any criteria, these are just for extra points.

Along with this, we have 2 specific Monthly Criteria which can be fulfilled to earn a special award, which will be revealed later. These will be posted in the log thread, for easy reference. Since, we are late, you will be allowed to read these books now, to count for previous months.

A separate log will be created to log the books read.
We are in September today, and as we are late, we will allow you to post for the previous months, from 1st October. You can plan to read for upcoming months though.

Um..I’m a bit confused. What If the first two books follow all the criterias ? Do we get all the points or is only one prompt allowed for one book ?
And the challenges start from this month right ?

Good question, I missed mentioning about this. Thanks for asking.
One book can follow max 3 criteria.

The challenge has started, since it's an yearly one, only that we ask you to start logging from October 1st. You can go through the previous months and see what you have already read, plan for monthly themes(which can be found in book log thread) and ofc, for upcoming months. Needless to say, when you start logging, you have to log the 2 compulsory books which must have been read in that specific month.
