Here you can nominate a book you would like to represent Poland in the classics category. In order to push contemporary reads closer to our time, we will consider classic all books published before 1950.

I would like to nominate The Street of Crocodiles by Bruno Schulz.

Great! It has been sitting on my TBR shelf for quite a while now and as Polish contemporary writers often claim Bruno Schulz to be one of their sources of inspiration I thought it would be a good pick :)

Helen Hagon | 26 comments Also by Henryk Sienkiewicz is Quo Vadis. My grandma wasn't a great reader but she loved this book. I still have her old copy and would never want to part with it.
