Have a question? Have an idea for a challenge you would like to see? Please ask your questions or share your ideas here. Who knows, your ideas may become reality.

Any time. Always ask. If it is something simple like this, we can certainly do it.

Tr1sha | 657 comments A suggestion for Stephanie about the Impossible challenge for 2022.
The challenge is a great idea but, as you said, the template is large. I wonder if it would help if
1 everyone deleted the line about their own birthday in the other 11 months as soon as possible
2 at the end of each month, everyone deletes each challenge they didn’t complete in that month.
Our individual templates would gradually get shorter & make it easier to scroll through. Of course, some people won’t need to do this as they will manage to complete everything!

Trisha,

Those are excellent suggestions but I believe that Stephanie told some members they could complete the tasks in any month and any order that they wanted. You may break it up over two comments if you wish. I am sure Stephanie won't mind.

Thank you, Donna. I just assumed the challenge was split into the individual months - I didn’t want to change what Stephanie had planned.

It is always best to ask and we love all your ideas so keep them coming. I am sure she will be back online at some point soon so she will see these as well.

Leslie Quick question on the Road Trip 2022. Do we post in the Month folders, for example in the January 2022 folders? Or do we post in the main folder. It looks like people have set up in both so I wasn't sure. Right now I've added a thread in the January folder for January.

Hmm, that is not my challenge. I don't want to steer you wrong. I will ask that mod to stop over here to answer your question.

Leslie I've never participated in a read-a-thon before. I typically have 2 books on the go...one I'm reading when I'm sitting down and one I'm listening to when I'm driving, etc... So would I post my progress for both books each day? For example

Book 1 - read 50 pages
Book 2 - listened to would I put in time, or convert to pages or just leave off?

Thank you

Thank you for asking!

You can do this yes, absolutely.

Here is what I do, for example:

01/3/22: To Kill a Mockingbird, 26 pages and All Quiet on the Western Front, 39 pages
01/4/2022: All Quiet on the Western Front, 67 pages and Siddhartha, 45 pages, and listened to Crime and Punishment, 1 hour.

The beauty of the read-a-thons is that you can develop a system that works best for you.

Lexi | 778 comments Unusual situation, I have a travel/guidebook that has a word count in the Acknowledgements section. Would that count for verifying for theme wars and the snowball game? Otherwise, I cannot verify wordcount by the usual methods and will skip it. No worries either way.

Page count is more than fine (230 pages), but since it is a travel book and according to your all's standard rules, word count must also be verified.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 834 comments I'm new to the group and see a few challenges I would like to join in on. Most of them started December or January 1. Can I join in and use the books I have read before joining the group provided that I read them during the challenge period? Thanks for your help!!!

I have the books shelved on two different shelves titled 2021 read and 2022 read if verification is needed. The links are below.

It really depends on the challenge. If it is a team challenge or partner challenge, you will have to ask the mod. For an individual challenge, you can jump in at any time during the duration of the challenge. Readathons can be jumped in at any time during them as well.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 834 comments Was just wondering if there was a way to make that super annoying pop up box with the group rules in it go away when you make a post? I know in other groups I have been in after your first post or xx amount of posts it does go away. But every time I make a post here, it pops up. Most all the time after I post it hangs out to where if I need to make an edit to my post, I can't without leaving the page or refreshing the page. : ( I was hoping at some point it would leave but as of yet, it hasn't.

LOL well, there was a reason that we made it stay. That reason has been removed from the group. I suppose we can reset the settings for now. It may have to come back if we have issues in the future.

Lol ok. I thought maybe I it was me, so I went searching to see if I had to make xx number of posts and how many more posts I had to make before it went away. I also kept thinking maybe I had broken one of the rules....YIKES!!!!! I certainly understand your reasonings and hope you and the other mods won't have to deal with that again in the future. CROSSING FINGERS : )

ETA: HEY, I LOVE IT!!!! That box is gone. :) LOL

Tr1sha | 657 comments Sorry if this is a stupid question! The Egg Hunt descriptions I found so far ask for books “tagged 2 or more times…”

Using the website, I can only see a few tags on books but not the number of times a tag has been used. I can’t find the detailed lists of tags that used to show before the recent website update. Goodreads Help implies tags are mainly on the Android app. Does this mean I can only read books that match the cover description or is it possible to see the tag details somewhere?

Thanks.

1. There are no stupid questions here.
2. I would never do that to you. I would change the challenge rules before limiting you to one option.

Under the book synopsis is a list of genres. At the end of the list, click "More" and then "Show All".

The problem is that the app is VERY limited. I looked and the add book link isn't even available on it. I can give you instructions on how to do both items on the website itself. We strongly recommend using a PC.

Re-reads are allowed if it has been 6 months since you last read the book.

Nora Currie Hi! I'm reading a much older version of Cat Among the Pigeons by Agatha Christie with a tinier size of font so it has less pages than any of the versions that I can find on Goodreads. Should I use my version with the shorter page count for the Theme Wars: Star Wars challenge or should I use the newer version I found on Goodreads with the higher page count?

If you can't find one that matches the version that you read, you may use the default or the top one in the same format (ie paperback, kindle, etc).
