Serena Prieto | 6 comments I am a linguist. I speak English, Spanish and French and am currently learning Arabic, Hebrew, and Italian.

Please comment what non-English languages you speak and if you want to learn English. I will exchange English lessons for lessons in whatever you speak, especially Arabic and Hebrew. Looking forward to meeting you all linguistically!

Diane  | 13052 comments I regularly read in English, French, and Spanish. I was raised in English and French and took several years of Spanish in school. I am currently learning Dutch and can read simple books, but am not conversational in that language.

As a non-native speaker, I will always be learning Spanish and would like to be good enough to read novels without a dictionary! I think my reading level in Spanish is young adult - any book recommendations for me?

Rosemarie | 3952 comments Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafón is one of my favourites. He's also written a couple of other young adult mysteries that I enjoyed. Spanish isn't my first language either.
Another book that I thoroughly enjoyed was Zorro by Isabel Allende. It's a fun read about the legendary masked hero Zorro.

You are a polyglot! My native language is Russian, I speak a little English.

So true-speaking is much harder than reading. I speak three languages well, English, French and German. But I can read Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.

L.C. Tang | 1 comments I love learning languages. English is my first language and I have studied in school French, Italian, Mandarin and American Sign Language in University. I have studied with private tutors for Hindi (5 years), Bulgarian with tutor for 2 years, Spanish tutor for 1 year. I am presently learning Arabic, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish. I will focus on Arabic because I plan to visit certain countries in the near future.

I’m enjoying reading books about Germany to learn more about the culture, pick up some new interesting Deutsche Wörte, and so I am more knowledgeable about the country when I visit next.
