Oh my gosh, I also can't stand when people are on the cover! It's almost always an instant deal breaker for me. I though it was just me, haha :)

this question has made me realize that I'll pretty much read anything-- yikes --but if there's absolutely no romance, I'm probably not gonna be into it. I used to hate real people on the cover, but I picked one up from my library one time and it's one of my favorites now sooo

I tend to stray away from the super raunchy covers, why don't authors realize that if women are reading steamy romance books, they want it to be discrete?

message 5: by Melcat (new)

Melcat (melcatt) I'm not into romance myself but it always makes me laugh when I see the shirtless covers for the books some of my friends read, I find this sooooo funny

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 12 comments I'll pretty much read anything but if I know beforehand that a book doesn't deal with a triggering subject in a respectful way then I'll avoid that book

message 7: by Parker (new)

Parker | 5 comments Incest, or amount of disturbing content. It varies on the novel, but if there is incest that book is a no-go for me.

maria (rodriguezorellanamarigmailcom) | 2 comments insta love, or when the protagonist makes something like, incredibly embarrassing.

boring title or boring story line

Codie Wallace (reading_with_codie) | 4 comments Big font. Maybe it’s because I wear glasses, but a huge font is just a big turn off for me. But then again, I probably miss so many good books because of that reason.

message 11: by Danny_reads (new)

Danny_reads Anything can put me off a book, but I instantly hate books that features cheating

message 12: by Victor (new)

Victor Gannon | 11 comments I mostly go to charity shops so it's those romance novels with regency era looking covers that aren't good at all.
I also can't pick up a book with a movie cover on it, I either won't read it or I'll find one that doesn't have real life actors on it. The only book I let go with that rule is Good omens but that's because the cover is cool even without the actors.

message 13: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindytreads) | 6 comments if the font is too small I probably won't read it

message 14: by Crescent (new)

Crescent | 4 comments Characters. If the characters are depthless or just annoying, I won’t read it. And third person pov. Normally, I’ll try to give it a chance, but third person povs in the present tense are a no go. They’re few and far between, but I won’t touch those with a ten foot pole.

Regina George | 2 comments The cover FOR SURE makes the biggest difference 😳 I mean I try not to judge a book by its cover 😂 but it's hard not to !!!

message 21: by dorian (new)

dorian ❂ ☾ | 1 comments the cover, man. i hate to admit it but i’m one of those people who judges a book by it’s cover 😭 by association i also buy books because of their covers, so i guess it checks out

dudinha rezende (dudinharezendee) | 1 comments If the cover has a shirtless man or anything cowboy related it’s not for me… yuck

message 23: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Schwochow | 5 comments Sadly I probably won’t read a book if I don’t find the cover at least a bit pretty/ interesting. I don’t know why

message 31: by Mary (new)

Mary | 2 comments Oh easy. Real people on covers. Blonde love interest (with few exceptions, Aaron Warner, Aedion Ashryver, and Jacks being the main ones<3) Too much detail. Not enough detail. Miscommunication (on a major level) Cheating between the main couple. And if there's no sarcastic funny dark haired side character, I'm out of there faster than you can say I miss Kenji.

message 32: by Codie (new)

Codie Wallace (reading_with_codie) | 4 comments HUGE/Large print. Literally hurts my eyes so heck no. You know how many times I’ve had to pass on a book in my TBR because the font is so big? It’s sad 🥲

message 33: by brighty (new)

brighty (whatsbrireading_) | 2 comments small text, if the storyline gives me the ick, shirtless men on covers (authors please STOP doing thisss) other than that I actually don't mind having real people on the cover because half of the time I don't have a vision in my head of what a character looks like so it's just their features but just a face with a black circle over it if that makes sense haha

message 34: by Soha (new)

Soha | 7 comments when the main character is embarassing, real life covers are the worst, when theres a lot spice, when the 2 mc's are straight up bullying the other mc but its seen as "banter", insta love makes me lose interest, sad endings (the books r so good but so painful🥲), miscommunication trope, love triangle, pregnancy trope, when the storyline is smtg I couldve read on wattpad when I was 12, and the list goes on😀...

message 35: by Codie (new)

Codie Wallace (reading_with_codie) | 4 comments When it’s large print/bigger font. It hurts my eyes to read and I get to sad that I’m probably missing out on so many good books just because the font is a bit bigger😭

message 36: by Martyna (new)

Martyna (martynareads) The name Colleen Hoover anywhere on the cover
