Austen Lovers TBR Challenge 2021 discussion

If you are willing to place one of your November reading choices in the hands of another person, leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than October 25th.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then just look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by October 31st.

You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

So if this sounds like something you would like to do, just comment below leaving your name and list of book choices for someone to pick your November book.

When you're done reading, feel free to drop a new comment of what you thought of your book.

Howdy, everyone! I'm so glad you could join 'someone else pick it'.

I have randomly drawn names from those who submitted a list of books and will put those just below.

For those who are new to this fun activity, here is what you do next:
1. Find your name in the left hand column and then go to the right hand column to see whose name you drew.
2. Go back up in the discussion thread and find that person's list. Choose a book from that list. And, then make a comment to that person of what book you chose for them. Do this by Oct 31st, please.
3. Watch for the person who drew your name to post their pick from your booklist.

Hi, Jeannepw! I haven’t read this one but people whose opinions I highly respect have given it good reviews, so I’ll pick it for you: Mr. Darcy's Cipher: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Violet King.

I also hope you read What Matters in Jane Austen?: Twenty Crucial Puzzles Solved by John Mullan sometime—it’s my favorite book of Austen crit!

Hahaha...after our exchange of a couple days ago it is no surprise that I pick for Abigail. :) I feared your list as I've read 3 2/3 of the books(and like them) and am fond of one the authors whose book I haven't read.
Hmmmmm......the 2/3 book I won't normally recommend due the length, especially to you, but you own it so ....A Year in Between is the choice. :)

Shifra, it's a close one between friends and lovers and not a bennet because I loved both of them a lot but my pick is going to be friends and lovers because it's really different from any other JAFF I've read before. Hope you enjoy it!

Sophia, thanks for your choice of "The blind will see". It's a very unusual variation . I really enjoyed reading it. I liked the way the author used Mary's moralistic views. A very good read.

Ah, Kirk, thank you so much for making me take the leap into The Year in Between: A Sense and Sensibility Variation! I will never love Marianne, but now I feel I understand and accept her better, and don’t pity Colonel Brandon for his choice. What a remarkable achievement this book is! I savored every page.

That was so very satisfying, Shifra. Excellent choice for me. Mr. Bennet and Mr. Collins were funny, but so engaging as letter writers. :)
