Shelly | 936 comments I read this for my F2F bookclub, and when it was described to me, I thought it was going to be a real drag! What a wonderful surprise, i loved it 5 stars worth. Victoria stole my heart from the first page, and I was rooting for her for 300 pages. I felt her pain as a deeply damaged child of the foster care system, and how she built walls around her heart. I loved how Elizabeth chiseled away at those walls, by giving her flowers and the Earth and unconditional love. Even before i understood what was keeping Elizabeth and Catherine apart, I wanted them to find a way. Let it Go! They needed a Disney Princess in their lives. The language of flowers was kinda the glue that brought all the main players together, and brought magic into so many lives.

“If it was true that moss did not have roots, and maternal love could grow spontaneously as if from nothing, perhaps I had been wrong to believe myself unfit to raise my daughter. Perhaps the unattached, the unwanted, the unloved, could grow to give love as lushly as anyone else.”
