Madelynn | 95 comments This is my first time with this, or any, reading challenge. I'm on track to read around 52 books this year, so I thought I would try this next year.

I don't have any personal restrictions regarding if I need to read it in the order the list presents or any extra challenges on top of ATY. That being said, I'm mainly a library digital reader, but have some physical books on my shelf and access to a physical library as well, so restrictions will have to be in mind of when I can get a book.

Madelynn | 95 comments Preplanning ideas for prompts, in no particular order, starting with what I put in the community spreadsheet:

1. Invisible life of Addie LaRue; Verity by Colleen Hoover (Main character is Lowen Ashleigh)

2. Return of the King - Tolkien (finishing up LOTR if I don't in 2021); The Mothers-Brit Bennett (read Vanishing Half in 2021), Toast to Tomorrow- Manning Coles (sequel to Drink to Yesterday)

6. Where the Crawdad's Sing; Klara and the Sun; Bad Witch Burning; Blackout

8. Africa- Homegoing; My Sister the Serial Killer; A Girl is a Body of Water (prompt 26/27 with Girl)

9. South America- One Hundred Years of Solitude; We Were Never Here (description sounds like this one doesn't entirely happen in S. America)

10. Australia/Oceania- Nine Perfect Strangers; The Beekeeper's Secret

12. Throne of Glass- Sarah J. Maas

24. Whose Names are Unknown- Sanora Babb (Dustbowl, works for prompt 20); Spinning Silver (was on the ATY listopia)

26/27. Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America + The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sister Brought Medicine to Women and Women to Medicine; Girl, Woman, Other + Vinegar Girl; The Bees + The Honey Factory: Inside the Ingenious World of Bees

31. Angela's Ashes; The Picture of Dorian Gray

32. Firekeeper's Daughter (prompt 6 as well); Forest of Stolen Girls

37. Red Queen- Victoria Aveyard; Dial A for Auntie- Jesse Susanto; The Gene: an Intimate History- Siddhartha Mukherjee

40. Devil in The White City; Raven Boys

42. American Marriage; American Dirt; Mexican Gothic

48. Midnight Library; Invisible Life of Addie LaRue; Educated

Madelynn | 95 comments Different way to organize this, I'm going to start with books on my library holds list that I doubt I'll get this year yet and list behind the book all the prompts it might fit under

Finding The Mother Tree: Discovering the Wisdom of the Forest- Suzanne Simard- 3, 13 because it's written by a woman in STEM, 15, 16, 35/36 for flora, 37

The Grace Year-Kim Liggett- 1, 5, 19, 52

Return of the King- J.R.R. Tolkien- 2, 15, 19, 31, 33, 50 as a stretch with Bilbo

Last Tang Standing- Lauren Ho- 1, 8/9/10 for Asia, 18

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue- V. E. Schwab- 1, 3, 6 if I count the stars, 8/9/10 for Europe, 11, 15, 25

Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America- Beth Macy- 3, 8/9/10 for North America (I'd prefer not to do this one to explore other continents), 15, 26/27 for Doctors paired with Doctors Blackwell, 37

Madelynn | 95 comments The Henna Wars
47. A book with handwriting on the cover

I read The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar. It fits the prompt because the title looks like it's supposed to be handwritten to me.

message 6: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America
26. 2 books with the same word in the title - Book 1

This title fits the prompt because I'm planning on partnering this one with The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women- And Women to Medicine. The subtitle should also allow me to pair it with other books with medical type subjects if I decide not to read Doctors Blackwell.

message 7: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Throne of Glass
12. A book related to glass

This book has glass in the title and it takes place in a glass building.

message 8: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments The Bees
4. A book that fits your favorite prompt that did not make the list

My favorite prompt that didn't make it was A book related to bees. Bees are my favorite animals so I had to use this prompt. Book would also work for main character is not a human.

message 9: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Verity
5. A book by an author with two sets of double letters in their name

This one feels like kind of a cheat because Colleen Hoover has 3 sets of double letters but I couldn't find a different prompt I wanted to use for this one. It was on my list of holds that I really did want to read so I made it work.

message 10: by EILEEN (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Transcendent Kingdom

message 12: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Nightbitch
7. A book related to psychology, neuroscience or the mind

This book in sort of a hard to describe way relates to like what is going on with the mother and there's a question of is what's happening with the dog stuff all in her head? Besides that, you get a look at the thoughts that are going through her head with very little sleep. There is also the topic that comes up more than once of if she should go to a therapist and there's also some psychological thriller elements to the book.

message 13: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women and Women to Medicine
27. 2 books with the same word in the title - Book 2

I am pairing this with Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America. I read Dopesick in January and Doctors is in both titles, I like learning more about medicine in the world so I thought Doctors would be a good word to work with.

Madelynn | 95 comments An American Marriage
28. A book that won an award from Powell's list of book awards

It won the Women's Prize for Fiction award in 2019. I debated using this for the title containing a nationality or language prompt but list prompts I'm finding to be a little bit intimidating with the limited options.

19. A book that involves alternate reality, alternate worlds, or alternate history

message 19: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Dial A for Aunties
37. A book that uses all five vowels in the title and/or author's name

message 32: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments Caraval
40. A book related to one of the 22 Tarot Major Arcana cards

I'm connecting this book to the card The Star. The symbol for Caraval involves a star and there's moments where star imagery is brought up. According to Wikipedia's description for The Star card, it represents new hopes and splendid revelations for the future. I think Scarlett has a lot of new hope created from the events of Caraval.

message 33: by Madelynn (new)

Madelynn | 95 comments One Last Stop
