Hello! I’m new here but I kind of want to know, are you guys fond of reading multiple books at the same time? or are you guys okay with reading one books at a time? Me, I usually read one at a time but if a book is an activity book or a short poem, I read multiple ones at a time.

I have read four at a time during the first few months of the pandemic: (1) book of the month for TFG; (2) a memoir for buddy read; (3) a self-help book on productivity for another buddy read; and (4) a sci-fi (Star Wars) novel. I was able to finish them all in a couple of weeks with half an hour reading for each or 1 to 2 chapters a day for the nonfiction books. :)

Polyreader here. Yep, it's kinda like watching multiple TV shows. I just tend to read what I feel like I want to read that day :)

I've read three books at a time but I prefer to read one book at a time. I can if all the books are different genres though, but the books still kinda get mixed up for me

Yes. Actually, being a polyreader keeps me on reading slumps, and it actually helps me to finish the book a lot faster [as I observe.] I am a more "Depends on the Mood" reader.

Alternately reading different titles actually keeps me going as well. Typically, I'm switching between fiction and nonfiction.

i'm in the minority here. no, i couldn't do it. i choose to read 1 book at a time. i don't want the risk to get myself confused with characters that share similar names from other books or get jumbled up with places/scenes from different genres. i can focus more on a specific story than to just jump from new book after each unfinished book if ever i feel like it.

Yes that's how I feel. Like I've said I have but I don't think I ever will again. For that reason exactly, Jezzy :)

I envy you all poly readers, I tried to do it but not with fiction books. I like to be in one book universe at a time hehe.

I read physical books in the morning and Kindle at night before hitting the sack. Mas madali kasi for me mag Kindle pag nakahiga 😁

I'm reading multiple books at a time -ranging from self-help, fiction, non-fiction, and some graphic novels. Probably, this can be compared to watching multiple shows on TV/Netflix. It's fine to switch channels or shows. :) Just like what Rochelle mentioned at the beginning of the thread.

One book at a time works for me.

I’m usually loyal to my current read 😂 just one book, but lately I’ve been reading 2-3 books if it’s not overwhelming. For example I’ll add a poetry book with my current read.

Yes! As long as it's from different genres, I can read 2 books at a time. One physical and one ebook :)

Yes, but 1 for pleasure and the other usually something to do with learning (e.g. book on writing, art, tech, etc.)

Yes only if one book is 500+ pages or if it contains heavy topics. I would need another book to take a break from the other one hehe

Haha diba sa school napagsasabay sabay natin lahat ng books with different subjects everyday. So yes. If there is time I can mix in a book or three kahit mga ilang chapters lang.

I usually read two books at the same time—a fun one, usually fantasy or romance, and a self-development one.

I try... Pero what ends up happening is I end up focusing (and ultimately finishing) one book over the other(s) lol.

I used to read one book at a time but nung nag-pandemic, I discovered I can read more than that. It kinda helps din if you find yourself getting bored reading halfway.

I can but I choose not to. It's confusing when it's all fantasy and if it has the same elements

I tried reading two books at the same time. Turns out I'm not a fan of it. I prefer investing all my attention into just one.

I sometimes read 1 fiction and 1 non-fiction simultaneously. I don't read 2 or more fiction since I prefer to focus on one story.

In my mind i was thinking there is no way i can read multiple books at a time.. however i realized we’ve been doing it since we started school(different books per subject). But personally, i stop reading something when i lose my interest and then start something, then go back. I think i do this unconsciously especially for self-help books.

Yes, I'm reading 3 books, but in different places in the house. There's Musashi, Yoshikawa Eiji in the living room since it's a hefty hardcover and impossible for bedside reading; Men Wihtout Women, Murakami Haruki in the toilet and at my bedside, What is Life, Paul Nurse which is a small book brimming with scientific wonder just like the cell.

Hello! Yes I do, at times. One fiction, one non-fiction and one textbook. Do textbooks count? (I'm no longer in school).

I'm a slow reader too.

Currently reading 19 books. Don't judge me! 🤣🤣. To be fair, ny currently reading pile includes my son's required reqding at school (mostly classics).

I usually have three books going but when one gets interesting, I pause on the other two and finish reading the most interesting one. Then I will return to the unfinished books.

I usually focus on one book at a time, but will have many that I am currently reading. I have been doing presidential biographies since 2018, at a rate of about one every three months, but will take some time off to read a book on a Civil War battle, whose field I had just visited (Chickamagua), or the topic of the current hit movie, (Oppenheimer). I am also reading the very dense scholarly "History of the Slave Trade, which I usually pick up to add two chapters to after finishing a president.
