To All Children's Authors,

I'm Vince (the group admin), and I'm looking to interview children's authors on my Youtube channel, Author Lifeline. If you are interested, please send me an email at vjlowry1@gmail.com. (Because Goodreads doesn't allow personal emails unless we are classified as friends, I had to update how to contact me. Thanks!)

(Please, feedback from only children's authors for this post. All others will be deleted.)

Thanks,
-Vince

Kairen Alaina | 2 comments Hi
I am a brand new author/illustrator if you are interested.
My first book: I Can Do That will be released by around January 30th.
Having watched my daughter cope with four children under 7,
I wanted to write a book that would promote confidence and encourage young children to be more independent.

Scarlett is a little girl who is used to having everything done for her, but today will be different. Mummy comes in to wake her up and surprise her with an all day challenge. As the day wears on, Scarlett discovers that yes! She really can do that.

The most effective inspiration comes from witnessing others successes.

Hello! I've just released a middle-grade chapter Christmas book. I would love an interview if the offer is still open.

Here's the pitch: Alone on the cold streets of London, a little homeless girl meets her destiny when she happens upon a little red box during Christmastime. She must make a choice that will change her life forever...

It's called A Box of Wishes and you can find it on Goodreads or on my author page!

message 7: by Susann (new)

Susann | 1 comments Hi Vince,
My daughter and I just self published a Children's prompted drawing book called Draw Your Happy, now available on Amazon.
The book highlights some of her artwork and inspires kids to tap into their own creativity. Alyza shares a short story about a variety of things that make her happy featuring a drawing that represents the narrative. On each corresponding page is a prompt with some suggestions for the reader to draw something from their own life.
Alyza spent nearly half of her early years under CPS supervision and bounced between a variety of family members for primary care. She came to live with me at 11yrs old and was officially adopted in 2019. It quickly became my focus to show this smart, funny, talented girl she had special gifts to offer the world, and teach her to let nothing inhibit her.
Our desire is to provide a creative outlet for kids struggling, whether that be a physical ailment, emotional trauma or life adjustment.
I'd be happy to send you a copy of the book if you are interested.

Hi Vince, I'm Jackie. I just published the third book in my middle reader Deja Vu series. It's about the Van Der Beek kids who live in White Plaines NY but are the direct decedents of a place called Deja Vu which is located in the galaxy of Dandelion. The whole thing starts when the twins, Ella Jane and Ethan, visit New York city and Ella Jane has a deja vu experience while in the Grand Central terminal. The series involves time travel, alternate dimensions, super humans, fantasy fashions, ancient technology, treasure hunting, gold miners, and a love of history. I could talk for hours about the mess the twins and their older brother Lenny get themselves into.
You can take a peek at the three books in a series of seven that are already published on Amazonhttps://www.amazon.com/s?k=J.R.+Towne...

message 16: by John (new)

John Day You may wish to consider Island of Adventure. 11 year old twins are invited to stay in a Victoria Fort on Alderney, in the Channel Islands. The fort was once home to a smuggler and the pair plus an adopted dog uncover a mystery surrounding the missing family fortune. Apart from being a children's book, many adults and teachers have enjoyed the adventure, so in this respect it could be a cosy mystery.
Give I try, it is quite original.

Gina LoBiondo (ginalob) | 91 comments Hi, Vince, I would love to be interviewed. My 2 children's picture books are called Pegasus -- A Dragon's Tale and Button Nose the Sad Little Bear respectively. Pegasus has won 11 prestigious book awards and is the story of brother and sister royal bear cubs who find a mysterious egg while out playing one day. It eventually hatches into a cute baby dragon and the 3 become inseparable friends. The story centers on that friendship and what happens after they are separated and eventually reunited. Button Nose has won 6 awards and is the fictionalized account of the teddy bear I had as a child and what happens to him after he's sold in a yard sale. The back of the book blurb says it's "the story of a much-loved little bear and the little girl who will never give up on finding him again."

My 3rd book Cinderella -- A Love Story is a 130-page, 16-chapter middle grade/juvenile fiction book (winner of 5 prestigious book awards) and is "a fanciful and absorbing rewrite of the classic faerie tale". It is told here in a fascinating new version, set circa mid-16th century. Younger readers will love the borrowed magic that enables Ella to attend the ball, while older readers -- including adults -- will connect with the inseparable bond between mother and child; a bond that transcends time and space and even death itself.

Ella's parents are young and in love and the family is happy until Marie suddenly dies. Her father remarries, hoping to give his beloved child a mother's love and care. But Charles's new wife is a cruel, unaffectionate woman, who cares only for her own two very backward daughters, and turns her step-daughter into a servant. Ten years later, when the King throws a ball in honour of his son, Ella's only chance at happiness comes from a most unexpected source.

Here are the links to the pages on Goodreads --

Thanks for the opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

message 39: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Bedrosian, PhD | 4 comments Vinny, I am the author of 30+ publications. I published my first children's title in November 2021 and sent a new manuscript to my illustrator yesterday! I am working on two more ideas for children's books as well.

I retired from 35 years of teaching and teacher education at the end of July 2021. So, my books are informed by the many experiences I've had with children as a teacher.

The first title, Daddy Loves You: a story of enduring love during incarceration, uniquely begins with the removal of the parent from the home by law enforcement. This aspect of parental incarceration is a critical incident in the child's life and other books do not address it. Child & family therapists, law enforcement, social services agencies, teachers, librarians and families have all praised my approach and are using the book in their first responder roles.

The second book addresses the subject of parental absence. Donuts with Dudes examines different family structures through the lens of what children often perceive of as the absence of a parent in a traditional two-gendered union, specifically: two moms, a single mom by choice, growing up with a grandparent, an incarcerated father, and the supportive roles of family friends, neighbors and older siblings.

The forthcoming stories address: parental suicide-attempt (and the child's questions, misgivings, and naive hypotheses around this topis) and initial diagnosis and adjustment to a diagnosis of Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes.

All of these stories approach complex life issues from a developmentally appropriate, supportive perspective. The goals are: (1) to validate the feelings of the child who is faced with challenging life circumstances; (2) to develop understanding and empathy in peers; (3) and to provide reliable information for carers so they can best support the children in their care.

All of the books include links to reliable resources and a discussion scaffold to help caregivers prepare to initiate healthy, healing conversations that lead to better coping and resiliency and less isolation and stigma.

If you are interested in discussing these stories further, please, email me at Bedrosian.Wendy@Gmail.com - I very much hope to hear from you soon! Daddy Loves You a story of enduring love during incarceration by Wendy K. Bedrosian

Mallika Naguran | 1 comments Hi Vince

I live in Tasmania, and authored the retelling of an age-old classic, the Ramayana, for young readers. The secular book titled Ramayana: The Quest to Rescue Sita is beautifully illustrated by Kavita Singh Kale from India. An interesting aspect for an interview with me would be a discussion on how to deal with the complexities of ancient storylines as there were hundreds of characters in the epic, originally written in Sanskrit, in the form of 60,000 verses by Valmiki.

The book was published by WS Education in the middle of 2021 and is available at Amazon.

message 49: by Robin (new)

Robin Kirk | 3 comments Hi Vince!

I'm re-releasing the first two books of The Bond Trilogy, a YA fantasy, and would love to engage with you. My Goodreads profile isRobin Kirk.

The Bond and The Hive Queen have fabulous new covers, interior design, and bonus content (the original publisher no longer published fiction).

PLUS I'm debuting the third and final book of the series, The Mother's Wheel, in September 2022.

The story envisions a world where women rule, men fight to survive, and mutants must choose which side to support to win their own freedom. "Kirk brings the reader into an intricate, well-imagined world— a landscape so credible it instantly feels like a classic," commented fellow writer Beth Kander, author of the Original Syn Trilogy.

The Bond (Book 1) won a Foreward Indies Bronze in 2018. Tammy Sparks at Books, Bones and Buffy reviewed favorably both The Bond and The Hive Queen. In May, she's doing a cover reveal for The Mother's Wheel, the final, thrilling conclusion.

The mutant frog draft Sil leads a ragtag group of desperate refugees to hoped-for safety in The Deep. Along the way, they meet an orangutan who loves poetry and guards the narrow path into the jungle. But safety proves elusive as the refugees are pulled back into the war unfolding on the heights. A fearsome bee-mutant attacks as part of his plan to murder his sister, the lovely and dangerous Hive Queen.

Will love or hate rule? Who, in the end, can you count on as family when you are the only one of your kind? Their destinies entwined, Sil, Dinitra, and Fir reunite and must choose between each other and the worlds they once called their own.

Writer Lisa Williams Kline (One Week of You and One Week of the Heart) was an early reader of The Mother's Wheel and loved Sil. "Sil is loving, Sil is principled, Sil is a reluctant hero forced to act. Like Gollum, Toad, Frog, and Kermit, she is a most memorable and endearing amphibian."

I teach human rights at Duke University (the series has human rights themes). Thanks in advance for considering this.

Robin
