Luckily for me, I haven't read a book about witches in a few years, so I should have plenty of options here. Maybe I'll pick up Bruja Born, the sequel to Labyrinth Lost.

Listopia is here

Susan Lee | 22 comments Since I’m trying to fit the last two Harry Potter books in for 2022, this prompt will work perfectly for that!

message 3: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments I read A Discovery of Witches for this year’s challenge and was hoping to work in books two and three next year. Between this category and a book by an author read in 2021 I’ll have them covered.

There are a few cozy mystery authors who have series featuring witches, including Heather Blake, Juliet Blackwell and Shirley Damsgaard.

message 4: by Maryam (new)

Maryam (ardvisoor) | 40 comments A great book is The Once and Future Witches . I have yet to find a book that I have not read.

message 5: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments The Witches by Roald Dahl is the first one I thought of. Goodreads reminded me that The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West would also qualify.

message 6: by Aleksandra (new)

Aleksandra | 19 comments I just picked up a book a few days ago that fits perfectly, so lucky: The Witches: Salem, 1692

message 7: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments There's probably a collection of comics out there with Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness for the Marvel fans among us.

message 8: by Emily (new)

Emily Murray (emlikesbooks) | 10 comments I read The Year of the Witching earlier this year and really enjoyed it and think it would work well for this prompt. I'm hoping the same is true for the sequel The Dawn of the Coven so I can use that!

I'm also interested in The Witch's Heart, which is the December book for The Feminist Book Club, so maybe I will put it off until the new year!

message 9: by Louise (new)

Louise Tinagero (lousy_86) | 5 comments Does anyone know if Book 1 of The Magicians by Lev Grossman includes witches? I feel like the show had witches, but could be remembering wrong. Or if there any prompts this book would fall under?

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments I'll be reading The Once and Future Witches for this one

message 13: by Sarah (last edited Dec 02, 2021 05:41AM) (new)

Sarah (voidedlux) I'll be reading Slewfoot for this prompt, as a horror fan.

I would also suggest the Practical Magic series for the general reader and The Ex Hex for the romance reader.

Sofia Samu | 82 comments A Wolf for a Spell by Karah Sutton

message 16: by Tanu (new)

Tanu (tanu_reads) | 115 comments I recommend Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas (depending on one’s definition of ‘witches’).

They just call them magicians, but they aren’t different than what other books would call witches, IMO.

message 19: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 109 comments I have We Ride Upon Sticks on my TBR list, so I think that'll be my choice for this category.

Amy Wels | 7 comments The Hour of the Witch, by Chris Bohjalian

CrystalIsReading on StoryGraph (crystalsea24) | 57 comments I'm not sure if I'll read A Letter to Three Witches or The Orphan Witch.
I tried reading Witch Please last year, but there's a big consent issues in it, so I don't recommend it.

I came in here hoping to find a recommendation for a nonfiction account of the the Salem Witch Trials, so thanks for the recommendation. I think I will read this.

message 26: by Elsa (new)

Elsa | 46 comments I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, but I read The Ex Hex this year and it's a wonderful witchy romcom!

message 27: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 1823 comments I'm probably going to go with historical witches rather than fantasy. (some of these I've already read, but thought I'd mention them for others)

Daughters of the Witching Hill
The Heretic's Daughter
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane
The Witches of St. Petersburg
The Crucible

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments Here's a chunkster that I adore (and have an autographed copy of):Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers and Other Pagans in America Today.
Non-fiction, and possibly a life-changing choice.

Marie-Eve Mailhot (indieegirll) | 139 comments I keep putting off A Discovery of Witches so im thinking I could go with that.

But I am also very interested in The Year of the Witching

This one feels like it should be easy but i'll have too many options and wont know what to pick. lol

For those who like mythology and havent read it yet, i HIGHLY recommend Circe

message 35: by Denise (new)

Denise | 374 comments I haven't decided what to read yet, but for those who haven't read this amazing book yet, I believe Circe by Madeline Miller counts.

message 39: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2708 comments In 2022 a new book is being released called In Defense of Witches: The Legacy of the Witch Hunts and Why Women Are Still on Trial . It sounded pretty neat so I might look into that one instead.

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 16 comments The Great Witches Baking Show (Great Witches Baking Show #1) by Nancy Warren

I love this series! It is a paranormal Cozy mystery play on The Great British Baking Show. Highly recommend the audio version! The final book in the series comes out this month!

Also:

Witch Is When It All Began (A Witch P.I. Mystery, #1) by Adele Abbott

Another good paranormal cozy mystery, the PI finds out she is a Witch in the first book. Also highly recommend the audiobook.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
This book was great! Would/Could also work for the holiday prompt as it is set around Halloween ( I feel like this one was also a BookTok Recommendation)

Jess Loves To Read (unlawful_sea) | 7 comments I have A Discovery of Witches already. Guess it’s time to read it lol

Does the Great Witches Baking Show series also include recipes? I think this is something I'd like to read (or listen to, as I have some Audible credits to use), and I could slot it into another challenge category.

message 47: by Anna (new)

Anna | 14 comments i would recommend Terry Pratchett's young adult series about Tiffany Aching, starting with The wee free men, which I think it's really good. Somebody mentioned Winter Smith above, I think it's the second book in the series. Great characters and I don't really see the difference between them and his adult-oriented books, except the main character is a child. Also a quick read.

message 48: by Laura Lynn (new)

Laura Lynn (lauralynnfoster) | 4 comments Do you think The Witch Hunter by Max Seeck would count? It's technically a murder mystery...

message 49: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 782 comments I read The Wee Free Men (Discworld, #30; Tiffany Aching, #1) by Terry Pratchett. This book was so much fun. 5 stars. This is my first Terry Pratchett read. I don't know why I have been asleep on him as an author. I will continue reading this series.

I want to second Juliet Blackwell. I started reading her Witchcraft series (starts with Secondhand Spirits) last summer. I listened to them on audio and enjoyed them.
