Maria (minni13) If you are watching the TV-show, you can discuss it here.
REMEMBER TO WARN ABOUT SPOILERS!! Mention the episode you are talking about, so people who haven't watched so far yet, can avoid reading spoilers :)

message 2: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) Anyone else going to watch the show? :D
We got amazon prime just for this series XD

message 3: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) It's today!!!!
But I'll watch the first episode tomorrow 🙈

message 4: by archit (new)

archit arora | 1 comments Watched All three Episodes

message 5: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) I couldn't yet :'(
But 3....there's only 3 episodes?!?

Bibliophile Britt (bibliophilebritt) | 3 comments They released the first 3 all at the same time, and the rest will be released one by one each week!!

message 7: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) Ooo, I see! I thought at first that we would get them all at once 😅🙈
I watched the 1st episode today!
I'm already hooked! I think watching the show before reading the books will help me a lot with the characters. I did the same with Game of thrones 😆

One little thing I was not too happy about in the show. I'm not a big fan of special effects in my movies/tv-shows. This had a little too much of that... Like if you know Lord of the rings and Hobbit movies, I liked LOTR, but in Hobbit, there was too much of that computer stuff...
But that's just me loving old films and the "realistic" filming 😅

Maria (minni13) I think the 2nd episode was more clear, my boyfriend, who doesn't know anything about the series, was a little lost with the 1st episode. But the next one opened up tte story a little better 😊

SPOILERS
EPISODE 2
I might have cried when the horse died... 😢

message 9: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) And on time, episode 3 done!
I think this episode was a little boring.... 😶

message 10: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) Episode 4, OMG, we had an actor from Finland there 😂❤️
And what an ending, I need more information about this.... 🧐

message 11: by Ron (new)

Ron Got into the tv show a couple of weeks back. I had wanted to see it on the release date but got sidetracked with other things. When I finally did see it though I was hooked.

So far these have been my favorite episodes in order:

E6
E4
E1
E7
E3
E5
E2

message 12: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) That happened to me with the Witcher series XD
Tomorrow comes the last episode!!!
I have to admit, I'm disappointed to the quality of the show... It had a same budget per episode, as Witcher, but doesn't look near as good... :(

message 13: by Ron (new)

Ron I can't really complain or judge since I have nothing to base it on. For a first-timer to the show as well as the book series it's all new to me which is what makes it exciting.

message 14: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) Yeah the story seems very interesting and unique! But I'm also afraid of all the things they changed from the books... We'll see which story line ends up being better. Like Lord of the Rings, I like the movies more than the books ... :'D

message 15: by Ron (new)

Ron Yeah, that usually happens. A lot of times the books are better than the shows/movies but that's because they have so much more detail that you can't exactly fit in everything.

I've come to appreciate things like that individually and try my best not to compare them otherwise it takes the joy out of it.

message 16: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) I try to do that too, but sometimes it's just pure bad show XD I accept they are different from the book, but if it's done super bad... Just no...

message 17: by Ron (new)

Ron LOL yeah I totally get that.

message 18: by Ron (new)

Ron With season 1 now over I can fully dedicate my time to the books. I'm looking forward to them.

I loved season 1. It seriously felt like a movie and not a show.

message 19: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) The last episode might have been my favorite! So good finale!
Though, SPOILERS!
I hate when a character dies and they are brought back -.-"

message 20: by Ron (new)

Ron This is my order so far in terms of my favorites:

1.) E6
2.) E8
3.) E4
4.) E1
5.) E7
6.) E3
7.) E5
8.) E2

Jessica Wakeling | 4 comments I was so excited when Amazon announced that they were producing WOT

I have watched the whole first season (eye twitching-ly) and after the first few episodes had to repeatedly tell myself that it’s a tv show based on the books and cannot possibly be the same - a story about an epic story

My husband who hasn’t read the books tells me the show is fine and makes sense to him but to me I keep getting caught up on the parts that are missing or changed 😑

message 22: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) Yeah I think if you've read the books, the tv version is rarely good anymore... I'm worried that now that I saw the series, the books might be harder to understand, now that I have the wrong information... o.o
And btw, I don't think the show made sense XD It was not explaining enought... My bf thought the same...

message 23: by Jessica Wakeling (new)

Jessica Wakeling | 4 comments The books explain things and give background information which I prefer

I found the show jumped from one thing to another with no explanation…

For me, the show was great. I read the first book three times before. I know there are huuuge differences between the show and the book, but it also says that the tv show is based off of the books. So, to me, these differences are acceptable.

There were a few things that I know I enjoyed in the book that I wished were in the tv show. For instance the differences in the wolfbrother story line and also also Loial was

Jenn Barrett (progressingimperfectly) | 24 comments The show bothered me at first until I heard Daniel Greene says that its a "different turn of the wheel" than the books and that made it easier for me to accept all the changes.

They certainly needed more episodes to cover so much content. Eight episodes did not give time for relationships to develop or the worldbuilding to be explained. In that way, it felt a bit like GoT Season 8... not that it is as bad, only as rushed.

message 27: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) Yes, and character deaths didn't move me at all, because I didn't have any feelings towards them in such a short time.

message 28: by Ron (new)

Ron For me, it's slightly different. When shows/movies are based on books I see them as separate entities. I mean sure it can be easy to compare them but at the same time, I usually don't.

I don't see the point because books always carry so much information that it can be hard to condense to a one-hour episode, even if it is a tv series or a 2 hour or so movie.

I like to enjoy them both separately because of that and simply because of just enjoying them in general. I would rather enjoy something even if it doesn't directly follow the source material than not enjoy it at all.

message 29: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Barrett (progressingimperfectly) | 24 comments I don’t mind differences, especially after thinking about the whole “different turn of the wheel” concept. But it felt rushed. I didn’t have time to care. Maybe now that they’ve proven interest they will slow down in season two.

Plus they lost two episodes and an actor to COVID so that didn’t help.

Ron Eoyon wrote: Plus they lost two episodes and an actor to COVID so that didn’t help

It was the actor that played Mat right?

message 31: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Barrett (progressingimperfectly) | 24 comments Ron wrote: "It was the actor that played Mat right?"

Yes, no one knows what happened, only that the cast adjourned due to COVID and then he was unable to return for the rest of filming and disappeared from all social media. Anything beyond that is speculation.

message 32: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) What do you mean they lost 2 episodes? Like was it suppose to be 2 episodes longer, or were 2 of the episodes "empty" because of covid?

message 33: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) I don't think covid has anything to do with Mat's actor leaving... It's said that either he left for his own reasons or he was sacked. I believe the first.... But he won't be acting Mat on season 2, which is sad, he played well that role 😕

message 34: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Barrett (progressingimperfectly) | 24 comments It was supposed to be two episodes longer. No one knows why he left, only that he didn’t return from the break everyone took due to covid. Could be he got sick. Could be he took another gig. Could be something else. No one knows and him leaving social media makes me wonder if it’s health related.

message 35: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) But I think it's not covid, why else would he have left the show, just for being sick.... Unless it was super bad for him..... 😶
2nd season Mat will be acted by one of the Witcher actors 😃

Ron Maria wrote: "I don't think covid has anything to do with Mat's actor leaving... It's said that either he left for his own reasons or he was sacked. I believe the first.... But he won't be acting Mat on season 2..."

Bummer. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

message 37: by Maria (new)

Maria (minni13) I just learned that the red Aes Sedai, Liandrin, appears in book 4 for the 1st time 👀
She was in so big role in the show...
