I know not everyone has a book that's done this to them and that's okay if that's you!

For me, The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien really ended up making a huge difference. I connected with the characters more than I've ever connected with any other book's. This might sound really strange, but before I ever had a real relationship with God, I just saw how selfless some of the characters were (e.g. Fingon, Finrod, Beleg) and I wanted to be able to be like that so bad. And all along those traits that I admired so much were really a reflection of sorts of Jesus, who displays grace and beauty and love perfectly. So yeah, that book was all fantasy, but it really ended up softening my heart toward God.

The Jesus Fandom (thejesusfandom) Wow, that's really cool! I've never really managed to get into the Silm because of the history textbook feel but the more I hear about it the more it seems like the later stories are really amazing.

I think mine was the Chronicles of Narnia, simply because I read them when I was young and impressionable and they really changed the way I see Yeshua :) <3.

Amelia Harry Potter has definitely made the biggest impression on me! :)

Lillian Keith (imwritehere20) | 26 comments I'd say it's either The Runaway Princess (M. Howard), which introduced me to medieval fantasy; or any books by Elizabeth George Speare (which inspired me to write deep, moving stories).

a v a (httpswwwpinterestcomdoubleaa373) For me I think it was A Night Divided. It is just such a good book, and I learned a lot from it - history and morally.

message 18: by Carina (new)

Carina Shephard (carinashephard) Yay, more books to add to my TBR! ☺️

One book that really made an impression on me was October by J. Grace Pennington. I’m not normally a contemporary fan, but I could see myself and people I love in basically every single character. It’s also one of the few books that has made me cry. 😛

awww

Emily(Marauders version)🎧⭐️ Mine is kind of odd, it’s story thieves, because I read it when I was younger and they are the books that really got me started on my reading journey again, bc I had learned how to read when I was 2-3 and I pretty much read anything I could get my hands on lol, but then o just stopped one day. And maybe it was just a really long reading slump, but once I read story thieves a couple years ago I jumped right back into reading and now I love it even more then I did before! I own almost all of the series and I pretty much memorized them from how much I’ve read them lol and idk if this sounds weird but, when you read your favorite book do y’all know what the books smell like? Like you could blindfold me and hold up story thieves and I would be able to tell you which book it is xD but that might just be me 😅

message 38: by Kellie (new)

Kellie Cunningham Lord of the Rings for me. I have a hard time explaining it, but LoTR has had a huge impact on my life, maybe it's the hope of the story, the well written plot, or the epic adventure, I'm not sure, but I adore that story with my whole heart and they're are always new books to read that explain or delve deeper into Tolkien's world. <3

There are literally so many. I don't think I can choose. I have needed different books at different stages of life, and God has always led me to the right book for each season. For instance, Jeanette Oke is not an author I would read right now, but when I was a teenager, I became a Christian, in part, due to her books. Can anyone relate?

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

The Intellectual Life by Sertillanges

The Confessions of St.Augustine

How to Read a Book by Mortimer Adler

These books have had a lasting impact on me :)

message 50: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs | 516 comments Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys is a book I will never forget. It unveiled a part of history that I had no idea existed. It baffled me how such terrible, yet true stories get shoved under the rug and forgotten as history passes. That book broke my heart and sewed it back together again.
