Nancy (paper_addict) I thought I would try and get a head start for next year.

It’s time to think about January book club! Let’s get the nominations going so we can vote at the end of November/beginning of December to give everyone plenty of time to get the book.

No self nominations.

Here is a link to books already read by the group:

Nominations:

And Then She Vanished (Joseph Bridgeman #1) by Nick Jones
And Then She Vanished

He only looked away for a second.

Still haunted by the disappearance of his little sister Amy over twenty years ago, Joseph Bridgeman's life has fallen apart. When a friend talks him into seeing hypnotherapist Alexia Finch to help with his insomnia, Joseph accidentally discovers he can time travel. His first trip only takes him back a few minutes, but his new-found ability gives him something he hasn't felt for the longest time: hope.

Joseph sets out to travel back to the night Amy went missing and save her. But after several failed attempts, he discovers the farther back he travels, the less time he gets to stay there. And the clock is ticking.

With the help of Alexia, Joseph embarks on a desperate race against the past to save his sister. Can he master his new skill and solve the mystery of Amy's disappearance before it's too late?

Doing Time (The Time Police #1) by Jodi Taylor
Doing Time

At some time in the future, the secret of time-travel became available to all. Chaos ensued as people sought to take advantage. Because there will always be nutters who want to change history...
And so the Time Police were formed. Internationally sanctioned thugs whose task it was to keep the timeline straight by any and all means possible. And they succeeded. The Time Wars are over. The Time Police won. But who will win the peace?

Doing Time follows three hapless new Time Police recruits - Jane, Luke and Matthew - as they try to navigate their first year on the beat. It's all going to be fine. Obviously.

The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1) by Jasper Fforde
The Eyre Affair

There is another 1985, where London's criminal gangs have moved into the lucrative literary market, and Thursday Next is on the trail of the new crime wave's Mr Big.

Acheron Hades has been kidnapping characters from works of fiction and holding them to ransom. Jane Eyre is gone. Missing.

Thursday sets out to find a way into the book to repair the damage. But solving crimes against literature isn't easy when you also have to find time to halt the Crimean War, persuade the man you love to marry you, and figure out who really wrote Shakespeare's plays.

Perhaps today just isn't going to be Thursday's day. Join her on a truly breathtaking adventure, and find out for yourself. Fiction will never be the same again...

Timescape by Gregory Benford
Timescape

The author of Tides of Light offers his Nebula Award-winning SF classic--a combination of hard science, bold speculation, and human drama. In the year 1998, a group of scientists works desperately to communicate with the scientists of 1962, warning of an ecological disaster that will destroy the oceans in the future--if it is not averted in the past.

Addie (addielr) | 23 comments Another good one is Jodi Taylor's "The Time Police" series! -currently 3 books- Excellent premise, plot and character growth :) Personally I think this new series are much better then her St.Mary's series, (also time travel, 14 books+ !! but a tad boring, though some people really like them), there's a lot of crossover, but The Time Police are much more action packed & engaging imo :)

Cheryl (cherylllr) And Then She Vanished would actually have been my nomination, too. I just confirmed, even though it's sort of new, it is at one of my libraries.

I recently read both of these books and can recommend both. I listened in audio and the narrators were great.
And thanks for the mention. Nick Jones is good company to be associated with. He's a great guy.

Nancy (paper_addict) Any more nominations? I was hoping we could get two more for a poll.

Henrique | 4 comments Hi! I think we could give a shot to Adrian Cousins' "JASON APSLEY'S Second Chance: A Time Travel Adventure" https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Light read with a interesting approach to the time travel paradox. Thanks!
