2. Melmoth the Wanderer (Maturin)
3. Metamorphoses (Ovid)
4. The Betrothed (Manzoni)

message 20: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Brown | 884 comments It wasn't one of my choices, because I have read it..... but I really hope Gravity's Rainbow gets enough backing to be picked! I would really like to see discussion about that book!

Drum roll. And the winners are; Underworld, A Fine Balance, Moby Dick, and the randomizer thought we should read Metamorphoses.

The order that they will be read.
Jan/March: Metamorphoses
Apr/June: Underworld
July/Sept: A fine Balance
Oct/Dec: Moby Dick

message 31: by Nike (new)

Nike | 98 comments I'm looking forward to finally reading "Moby Dick"!

Kristel (kristelh) | 5131 comments Mod
I bought Metamorphoses a long time ago and it was a DNF for me, I hope I can make it this time. I have had Underworld on the shelf for awhile so glad it made it. I read A Fine Balance (easy read) and I read Moby Dick for at least the second time this year, so not sure I will reread it again. Not the easy read as A Fine Balance is.

MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) I have all of these and voted for 2 so I am thrilled.
I will read #2 and #3 for sure

message 34: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1679 comments Once again only 1/4 I haven't read...So at least Underworld got in lol. Ah well, I will probably make some fake quarterlys for myself throughout the year, and can now finalize my tbr.

message 35: by George P. (new)

George P. | 726 comments I have read Moby Dick and a Fine Balance but I look forward to reading Underworld. I'm thinking I will pass on Metamorphoses, but I see it did get a few votes so it will have at least a few readers.

Camilla

Moby-Dick

message 37: by Pip (new) - rated it 5 stars

Pip | 1822 comments Woo hoo! I own three of these and Metamorphoses is available at no extra cost on my Audible subscription so I am happy. I have read A Fine Balance before but am happy to re-read so I can join in the discussion.

message 38: by Diane (last edited Dec 02, 2021 03:17PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Diane | 2044 comments At least there is one I haven't read. I was so sure that Gravity's Rainbow was a shoo-in. It couldn't have lost by much.

It was winning right to the end.

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 555 comments I read Moby Dick already, but two of the others were ones I voted for (yay!) and I can get Ovid on Project Gutenberg, so I ought to be able to do 3 out of 4 for 2022.

George P. | 726 comments I just started Underworld.
Moby Dick is not as hard to read as a lot of people think, but it does have some sluggish parts.

Was wondering if you would like to moderate discussion for Underworld?

Yes I would do that. I'm at about 40% through it now. The discussion would start in a few days, April 1 I believe.
