Jenni Frencham (jennifrencham) This is another one I haven't found in my library system. Does anyone else have it? Have you read it yet?

Angela Critics (quiltinglibrarian) It looks like my boss just ordered it. So I've put a hold on it.

Lucie | 14 comments I read it a few weeks ago, when I got it in - not knowing it would be on the Hub challenge! It was one of those books I picked up because of the cover and decided to try.

Ultimately, I did like it. It's a great around-the-world adventure story with fun characters and appropriate for middle schoolers. The thing is, I think it would be hard to find the right reader for it. It took me a long time to get through Vango, despite the constant action, and I never totally connected with it. I am really curious to hear what other Hub readers think of it, since I can't quite figure it out! No one else has checked it out of my branch yet, either.

What I eventually decided was that it would have made a great graphic novel, and I wish it was in that format! I can imagine some awesome art going along with it.

Cindy | 9 comments I just finished reading Vango. Definitely an original and fun book with a lot of action, mystery and intrigue. There were a lot of characters and story lines that made the book both interesting and hard to follow. More than once I had to flip back to "remind" myself who a particular character was. It would have been useful to have a sentence or two recap before continuing with a character that hadn't been heard from for 50 or 75 or more pages. The ending had some sense of closure but left many of the story lines hanging. This is the type of story middle school students would love if only it "flowed" a bit better.
