Cat Johanson Have you read the abridged or full version? For giggles or for school? Did you enjoy?

Jonë I read it out of vanity to be honest, but I am so glad I did. It was such an exciting and good read and really got me enthralled.

Alina I have read the full version after my grandmother repeatedly swore on it ... Since English is not my mother tongue I found it hard to understand "old words" I guess. Nevertheless, I understood throughout reading the book that it is not important to understand every word but the meaning behind it. I learned to love Jane as a character and was inspired by her quest for equality and more importantly a girls independence.

Ave I got into a classic literature kick during quarantine and ordered it for fun - very glad I did.

Sue Daia Definitely a favorite. I would re-read. Love anything written by the Brontë family members. An amazing family of talent, full of inspiration. I am in awe.

Zazuwu Yes, absolutely ! It's one of my favourite, I read it at least once a year - full (translated) version. I discovered it during my last year of secundary school and I simply felt in love with it.
I don't feel like reading it in English just yet but I hope soon I would be able to do it. It could be a great challenge for me just to try tho haha.
Still, it's a great book (and even more, a classic), everyone could learn a lot from reading a simple excerpt

Martha This is one of my favorites. I've read it at least twice - maybe more!

Kathryn Moye Yes Yes!

Tereza Rereading it now. I really wanted to annotate it. Great book!

Sherianne I have read it three times and have a little obsession with collecting it in different bound versions. One of my favorite books - ever.

Caelia I just read this last year and reread it twice now! One of my favorite books now

Marc I just read it for class and it's been the only book I enjoyed out of the 5 we've been forced to read. Although it was annoying my professor spoiled the most shocking parts of the story before I got to them.

Amy Shore Absolutely yes! People still read and should read Jane Eyre. It is my number one favorite.

Richard Yeah, I read it recently as I try and mix in a few classics amongst my other reading and other than the utterly ridiculous bit where Rochester 'disguises' himself as an old gypsy fortune telling woman(!) it is very, very good and I recommend it.
It's not a hard read for vanity, just a good gothic horror style story, well told, with interesting characters. If you enjoyed the likes of Dracula, Wuthering Heights or A Christmas Carol then you should enjoy this.

Sayani Chaki Yes, I loved it.

Azalea Just read it recently, I might even re-read it because we are going to learn about Jane Eyre on literature class in school

Giselle Levine Certainly! It is definitely one of my favourite books, have read it twice, and there will probably be a third time.

Ray Kiefer Reread this last year. I read this the first time way back when my sisters were reading it in high school. It was a different book this time. Of course I am a different reader now. Classics last forever.

Monique Finn Duarte I read last year, that's a wonderfull classic.

Ray Kiefer I reread this recently. My sisters convinced me to read this when I was in college many, many years ago. When I reread it recently, I viewed it differently. I saw more of the character development.

I revisit the classics a couple of times a year. Jane Austen has become a favorite. Unfortunately my sisters are no longer around so I cannot talk with them about what I find in these books now.

Laura Claro que sí, es uno de mis libros favoritos y aunque sea un clásico es sencillo leer a las hermanas Brönte.

Saoirse This book is how I began my journey into the classics! I still re-read it.

Catherine It took me about a year to finish this book. I hated it, but needed to finish it to see if it ever got better. I love classics. I find it hard to believe I will ever be convinced to re-read it.

Christine W The author has a gorgeous mind. I feel like mind wise I have been transported from a tin shack where my days are spent garbage picking for pennies dressed in rags and eating with dogs to a beautiful English estate seated at the table as a Lady of the Estate.
Books like this will make a you a better person.

Sara Ribeiro My favourite book :) I have read it in portuguese (my mother tongue) and english a few times now

Akhila have read an abridged version by MacMillan publishers in India, I guess. Fell in love with that version. But I've not yet tried the full version of it. But I guess it would be a treat if you take your time with it. Though the edition I've read was abridged, I was fascinated by the curve of character development of the protagonist. Left me with awe and a role model to look in to.

Jul Love this book. Loved the movie directed by Delbert Mann, starring George C. Scott and Susannah York. I also read it and saw a different version of the film in school when I was younger. Excellent book in plot, character development, prose, etc. Jane was someone you could admire. Knowing who you are and sticking to it, even when given a glimpse/taste of what you desire, she stuck to her beliefs and her morals. Her character spoke for itself, and in the end goodness won. With work and sticking to what was morally right, she ended up with everything she truly wanted (and deserved). This book demonstrated how I wish the world worked all the time, but I guess in a way it does demonstrate how the world works. Bad things happen, you can choose to let them cripple you or you can allow them to change you and make you better, stronger. Granted Jane had slip ups, but to her core she was a person who knew to strive for being good and yourself. Being bold and standing up for what is right. She was an excellent role model.

Lorri Jenkins This is one of my favorite books! You most definitely have to chase it with Wide Sargasso Sea.

Saffron Yes! One of my favourites - read during lockdown and re-read over again a few times since then. Love to go through and annotate. Agree with some of the other comments that mention Wide Sargasso Sea told from Bertha’s POV. Definitely worth a read too.

archu Yes! It's one of my absolute favourites. I read it the first time when I was 11, the abridged version obviously, but since then I've grown to read the unabridged version at least once a year. Its such a beautiful comforting and self fulfilling book. It pretty much started my journey into classic literatures. It's such a heartwarming lovely romance novel, and so mature for that time too! Makes me feel so empowered as a woman, so fulfilled and confident in my decisions. It's like a breath of fresh air. Its the first and mostly only book I recommend to everyone around me. Gorgeous.

Carolina Morales Yes, and re-read every few years. Such great a masterpiece.
