When Kim and Bryant return to the Phipps home, they discover that the family has not only vanished but moved out most of the contents of the house. Did the idea of them being in witness protection occur to you at the time? If not then, when did it begin to dawn upon you?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Actually, it was early on in the story only a couple of chapters later when I twigged to Witness Protection. Especially when bodies were piling up it made sense for the Phipps to "get out of Dodge".

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments When Kim came back I didn't know if they were officially in witness protection program, but I knew they were on the run.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments When Kim and Bryant returned to the empty house, I guessed that the family was in Witness Protection and Leanne was their handler.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I started to suspect that the family was in some form of witness protection or in hiding because of Phipp's brutal death and the nervous nature of the family.

I immediately thought witness protection solely because of Leanne. She acted like a handler.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Exactly, Jonetta. Leanne seemed to be calling all of the shots. That's why I figured she was their contact through witness protection.

Me, too, Robin.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Yes, the Witness Protection program was the obvious conclusion for everything that happened up to this point.
