Art Lovers..Part 2 discussion

I have this thread in the other group and for those of you who are also in the original Art Lovers group you already know this.

But I thought I need to start this thread here, too just in case the moderator has something to say to the group.

This is also a place where you can respond to the moderator with questions about his or her comments.

So I have a comment, more of an announcement.
Again those of you in the other group who have read the comment from the moderator already know this but since I moderate both of these groups, I thought I need to announce this In both groups.

This coming December 1, 2021 I will be ‘retiring’ as moderator for both groups. As of January next year it will be 13 years since the birth of the other Art group which began with two people.

I never dreamed I would have to create yet another group just to accommodate the first group since it had become so large and at least the one folder had gotten so much attention that it actually needs more space! Thus the creation of this second group.

So I want to introduce your new moderator whom I’m sure you won’t argue is a good choice.
Dirk has graciously consented to become moderator of both of these groups in my place. I know he will do a great job. He is newer to the scene, he will have different perspectives, and perhaps some more ideas and he has the enthusiasm that I once had but is now extinguished in me.

I just have to concede that I am burned out and feel to move on to whatever comes next in my life. I’m ready for another challenge, to learn something new!

I have learned a lot in the 12+ years that I’ve been in these groups and I value my experience here. I hope everyone will be able to have similar experiences as far as learning or at least having fun stopping in to see what’s happening! That’s the point of the group. It is what you make of it.

I will bid you all farewell next week as the time comes for me to move on to my next chapter. Until then…

It was stolen about ten years ago but recently recovered together with a Picasso.

When I first learned about Mondrian I just think of his colored square paintings. In fact, those are the only ones I have associated with him.

But I did see that article about when it was recovered and that was one of the first paintings from his earlier period and I thought he was a really good realist artist!
(Isn’t that more of a realism sort of movement? I’m not good at assigning specific movements to paintings)

I’m glad it was recovered so more people can get an idea of his different styles of painting.
