Discuss the book and let the spoilers fly!

Deii (lynnweary) | 8 comments Wow ahead of the reading list for once. I read this last year because it sounded really cute, and it is adorably cute. It reminded me of a setup to a really amazing disney musical. You have someone trying to kill all mages, which brings about this unlikely wizard that can command baking goods. Sourdough golems, mini gingerbread knights, the list goes on and on.

Can you imagine "Be our guest" As cookies are flaying their enemies. I can and it makes me chuckle. It's just a really good heart warming book with an underdog that makes it big.

Ashlee Gautreaux (ashleelynn1024) | 3 comments I don't know if everyone has watched Sky High but everytime someone calls Nora a wizard and she says "just bread and dough" I think of Magenta and how she can shape shift but only into a guinea pig lol

Chris Cohen (fromonebooklover) | 2 comments When I grow up, I want to be Mona. Not just because she had the nerve to climb up a (royal) privy, but her vulnerability gives me courage to have faith in my own magic — and to remember we aren’t alone!

Her gingerbread cookie friend was one of my favorite characters. And Mags, who had heart enough for them all.

It also made me constantly munch on graham crackers while reading. (It’s all I had on hand, but still a worthy snack!)

Cleo Coppola | 20 comments I loved this book! I loved that the Duchess and guards would answer Mona’s questions without speaking to her like a child. Mona was also so funny describing things using baking terms and how she talked about how the dough was feeling. I think that the gingerbread man and Bob were my favorite characters, even if they didn’t talk lol. Also, Knackering Molly’s death was so sad!
This book was definitely different than anything I’ve ever read before and I am so glad I read it!
I’m sad this is the last book club book for now, but I’m excited to see what Jaysen does in 2022!

amanda | 2 comments I was honestly surprised by how much I loved this book. I read a lot of excellent books this year but this might have been my favorite. It’s such a unique story and the messages are so relevant today. And the writing! It truly felt like I was back in my own 14 year old mind. I am of course sad I won’t have a monthly sure-fire-winner of a recommendation next year, however this also gives me a chance to make a dent in my TBR. This book club has brought me so much joy this year and I’ll still look forward to all of Jaysen’s other content in 2022.

Jocelyn (bookwormyogamama) | 5 comments I absolutely loved this book. I literally laughed out loud at Bob and cookie shenanigans. Thank you for such a wonderful suggestion.

Elizabeth | 18 comments This was such a great book and not what I expected at all. So much fun to read. Bob was such a hero! I've really enjoyed being a part of this book club and will miss it but as a result I now have plenty of books on my TBR list too! Thanks again for so many great recommendations

Jennifer Hernandez (sweetfrog) | 20 comments this was the perfect December book in my opinion with the gingerbread guys and all the baking. It was fun and interesting read to listen at work while I'm working these long days and extra day . I'm not suppose to have ear bud in but i need something to get through 12 hours of labor work. Thank you Jaysen for doing this book club and i will sure miss it but I understand how life can sometimes get in the way plus having to decide what book to do each month. most of the books we read i probably would have never read them otherwise. please keep doing your YouTube videos, i don't have the other apps. to watch your other videos. until next time, take care.

Arturo | 2 comments It was has been a busy last 2 months for me, but I finally finished the book today! I enjoyed the heck out of following Mona's baking journey and dealing with the town's rulers. The gingerbread man and Knackering Molly and Nag! This was the perfect December book which kept me entertained from beginning to end. It's sort of inspired me to take on baking myself now and want to make my own Bob lol! While I joined the book club towards the last few months of 2021, thank you for recommending us the best books ever. I look forward to when this starts back up but I understand that life comes first. Until the next book recommendation everyone! - Cherrio
