Purpose:
The purpose of this thread is to find out how many pages we can read and how many bonus points we can amass for the month. The winners of both get to choose the topics for the month after the following one.

Rules:
- If you want to participate, copy the template below and post a new comment. You can do this now or anytime before the challenge ends on 10/31/2021. Totals will be calculated on 11/01/2021.
- When you finish reading, go back to your original comment and update it with the number of pages, book link, date read, and your new pages/bonus totals. THIS MUST BE DONE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED AS A WINNER.
- Any book counts as long as you read it during the month, book club selections or not, add it! Audiobooks also count, just use the page numbers from the most popular hardback/paperback edition.
- Started but DNF (Did Not Finish) a book, add it but only add the number of pages you actually read within the month and comment that you did so. If you started a book in January for example and finished it in February, post the number of pages you read in February and please indicate this.
- Please be sure to type in the areas provided in the template your total number of pages read and bonus points that you have achieved. If your totals are not added up on your template by the end of the month, then I will not be aware of the full total and you will be counted on what I see on the 2nd of the following month.

Participating Members:
Once you comment with your template, I will add you to the list of Participating Members. It will show your totals and what message you are. The totals will be added up at the start of the following month. Please only post one template per participant.

The Winners:
There will be two winners, one for the most pages read during the month, and one for the most bonus points obtained. Please note that you can only win once during a 6 month period for either the most pages or the most bonus points. If you are the participant with the highest number of pages or bonus points, and have already won in the previous 6 month period, then the person with the next highest pages/bonus points will be selected as the winner for the month. Winners will be announced once the totals have been posted and calculated. Winners will be notified via message and given instructions for their bonus round selections.

I see a few have joined, so that's brilliant... who knows, we might even have more joining us now. If nothing else, it is a great way to keep track of what you read.

I won't get to work on it until Saturday. Work is hectic and I'm working lates this week. I was going to finish out Dec in LOABA but we can transfer it here, but everyone has to transfer their own, it won't let me do it...I can only transfer my own too. I will open Dec 2021 and we can transfer our challenges over.

Ruth, this is the first month I’ve done the monthly reading challenge. The only question I have is, you can only use 1 book, 1 time for each Bonus, is that correct? So, if I use Flower Day for a book that has flowers, I can’t also use that same book for points as an e-book, correct?

I use the same book for more than one category if it fits. But it's possible I've been doing it wrong.. lol

I have always done it where you only use 1 category. Fun Challenge, thanks for your help.

Ruth, it’s no problem. I have been logging my books in and have picked 1 catagory for 1 book. I like trying different prompts. I’ll look it over and add more books in to same category if that’s the way to do it. Bill, Thanks, too.

Kristine - really do it whatever way you wish. I use it as a method for tracking what I read each month so I can do a monthly summary in my BLog :0) The rest is for fun and to see how many of the questions I can answer. Glad you enjoy the Monthly Update thread.

Hello! I am new (second month) and came her for this insight after doing 1 book per category and then seeing others doing the combo method. Thank you for the clarification

One more question: Can you use the categories multiple times?

For instance, If I read 3 books of poetry this month, can I mark 35 points (10 + 25) for each of the 3 books?

Love to do this monthly Challenge. I talked worked out perfectly. I ended up winning most pages, so that was fun picking the Prompts. I think I will finish a few Challenges this month, so will come back to doing this. Ruth, thanks again for all your help. Like this group 😊

No problem, Kristine. :)
You could also fill in the books you read as your challenges, in this challenge, without doing our prompts... Judy does that every month, without using the prompts. :) Whatever suits you. Or you can dip in and out every other month. I do find it's a handy way to track books and pages read each month.
