No better way to get into the Christmas spirit than reading a controversial book, amirite.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly...
On page 5.
On page 5.
Page 8 - my favourite part of the whole "Damen gets the bath" scene is that like any red-blooded male who enjoys the opposite sex he calms down somewhat when presented with a naked woman.

The Veretian people had good reason to hate Prince Damianos of Akielos.
I'm sure the book will get into that, but is there any specific reason for hatred toward Damianos in particular, or is this more a statement of opposing sides hate the figureheads of the enemy in times of war kinda thing?
The book will get into that. It's spoiler territory for me to tell you. But yeah, they've got pretty good reason to hate Damianos, which is why Adrastus was revolted when he was told to call the new slave (Damianos) "Damen."

Your favorite part : )
Pretty true to real life though, guys can be that easy sometimes.

Cool, so Damen in particular

Cool, so Damen in particular"
...as Prince Damianos he would be unlikely to last a night alive in Vere. Better by far to be thought a nameless slave.
More foreshadowing throughout here then I see.

The older brother and former heir [of Vere], Damen well knew, was dead.Or if not why, does this (Damen potentially having been the one to kill him, or play a significant role in the cause of his death) have anything to do with why Damen'd be hated by the Veretian people?
Just wait. It'll all be revealed.
Where are you up to? Picking the book back up now.

'Pretty sweet orders for a bed slave...Think what that'd be like, getting a leg over the Prince.'The Drarry vibes are strong
I imagine it would be a lot like lying down with a poisonous snake, Damen thought[.]

Somewhere in ch1
Loc 358 of 3781, 7 minutes left in chapter, 9% -according to my kindle copy

Now at the part where Laurent meets with Damen alone after being publicly gifted with Damen as a slave.
I hate it when Kindle doesn't have the page number lmfao. Ah well. We're on the same chapter at least.

Happens way too often. Page in book option isn’t available sadly
Fucking shit, but ah well we'll deal with it.
Also, I'm kinda wondering why they left Damen undrugged for so long that he attempted escape multiple times. Wouldn't it have been smarter to drug him from the get-go??

No, we're not supposed to like him.
Also, I may have done a cheeky thing and created a buddy read group.

Smarter on their part, yes. They may have been wanting to test for themselves how he'd react to their drugs, and try to beat him into submission in Damen's moments of clarity? Could just be a storytelling decision to let Damen have enough awareness in some moments of his journey to come to terms with things.
Though there's the scene with Damen being appraised while still transported and those in charge of him seemed bored so they may have simply not cared to spend the time to drug him properly or then monitor him better.

How similar is he to Lucius Malfoy? Cuz I'm kinda getting those vibes of Laurent's uncle having a lot of control over Laurent in a sorta similar way, however small that similarity is. (I'm honestly seeing him more as someone who had vast control in raising Laurent, and sculpting him to his own purposes; possibly also in the way of the pedophilia warning you mentioned.)
He's way worse than Lucius Malfoy ahah. Lucius Malfoy was a coward through and through, all talk no bite when the going got tough. The Regent is not like that.
