I've just finished my reread of Anne of Green Gables and it remains one of my all time favourite books. Every time I read it, I fall in love all over with Anne and the Cuthberts and cry when Matthew dies. So glad I've started rereading the series this year.

Yes the death of Matthew is heartbreaking. The relationship between Matthew and Anne is beautiful. A lot of the beauty of the books I think is the effect Anne has on people.
