Linette | 174 comments I love doing this challenge. Here is my list - no theme, just a mix of books old and new that I would like to read. Can't wait to see what you all have on your lists this year!

1. Green Rider 4 stars - will continue this series
2. The Gilded Wolves 3 stars
3. Recursion 4 stars
4. King of Scars 3.5 stars - not as good as Six of Crows
5. Jade City 3.75 stars - good, but somehow failed to fully engage me
6. Verity 3.5 stars - started well but kinda fizzled the ending
7. The Anatomist's Wife dnf
8. Project Hail Mary All the stars! Love Rocky. <3
9. The Jasmine Throne Meh
10. The Bone Shard Daughter Also meh
11. The Rose Code 4.5 stars - interesting, and fun.
12. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo 4.25 stars - good story telling

Alternates
1. The Book of Cold Cases 3.5 stars
2. The Lost Apothecary DNF - 2.5 stars - too predictable to hold my interest
3. Entry Island 3.75 stars
4. The Shadow of What Was Lost 4 stars - Pretty good for a debut novel

I read The Lost Apothecary a few months ago and loved it

Happy for your good review - I was iffy about whether I had made a good choice putting it on my list.

Bill wrote: "Good luck with your challenge, Linette. Stop giving me ideas for new books!"

We both know you will be adding to my TBR soon too. :)

Amy wrote: "If you ever do audio books, I highly recommend Project Hail Mary as audio!"

I always have an audiobook going, as well as either a paper or ebook - and I've got this one on audio waiting for me. Glad to know the audio is well done!

I've lost track of what is on my TBR - I think I've discovered a new book I want to read, only to find I put it on my TBR back in 2018. LOL.

LOL you are incorrigible. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next year. :)

I hope I love them too! Getting excited...only a few weeks now.

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments Linette, I love your list. I have read and loved A Gentleman in Moscow, Recursion, Project Hail Mary, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Great choices, all of them! I'm hoping to read King of Scars this coming year - it's on my individual challenge list. Hope we both enjoy it. I can't wait to see what you think!

Thanks, Lea - I've enjoyed other books by Leigh Bardugo, so hopefully we like Scars too.

message 12: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments Nice list, Linette! I've read a few, and loved them all: Recursion, Project Hail Mary and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. A few others are on my TBR, so I hope both of us will enjoy them. Happy reading!

Patricia | 1136 comments Great list! I've read Gentleman in Moscow & Finlay Donovan Is Killing It. Enjoyed them both! Haven't read that particular Peter May but I did enjoy his chess trilogy.
Happy Reading!

Thanks, Alondra :) I think there will definitely be some gold in my list. Hope we love Project Hail Mary - I think I'm going to listen to the audiobook, I've heard it's good.

Thanks Patricia - do you mean PM's Lewis trilogy? I loved it! We shall see about this one.

I'm seriously considering making it my first read from this list.

Linette | 174 comments Finished my challenge!
My favourite book was Project Hail Mary - especially since I listened to the audiobook. Funny, and poignant.
Had 2 DNFs, and 2 that might have been good but just weren't for me.
Best of all, I liked 2 books on this list enough that I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series :) Haha.

Congratulations, Linette. I will have to go back and look at your reviews. Woot!!

I hate DNF's and had not had one in a long time, but this year did it. Ugh.

Bill | 4250 comments Mod
Congrats, Linette. I've had more DNF's this year than ever. I guess we're just getting more discerning, eh? 😎

message 21: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments Congrats! I've stopped counting the DNFs long time ago 🤣

message 22: by Linette (new)

Linette | 174 comments Exactly! So many books to read, why spend time reading ones we are not enjoying? Someone else will enjoy them while we move on to the next in the pile and maybe find something we love. And I did find ones I loved in this list - win!

Same. Narrowing down the list is really hard for me. :-)
