I have been watching my numbers and definitely when I post to FB on assorted promotion sites my sales rise. So, from selling a couple of paperbacks per day- it goes to 10-20 sales per day (paperbacks). I have been doing at least one book free book a week and average 100 'purchases per day. Kindle sales are still flat, never more than 4 or five a day. What are your thoughts? Posting takes five minutes- I look for sites that invite authors to post. What are your thoughts?

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments I have never been good at consistent social media posting, and over the past couple of years I've gotten worse at it. So I have nothing to report, really, except I haven't noticed any sales effect from anything I've posted. Maybe I just don't post in the right places or consistently enough. I've recently joined a few groups for author interaction, as I've heard that on social media the key is really to interact more than to try to sell, but I haven't been very good at that, either.

I searched for Facebook groups that say promote your book here or readers/author groups. I never ask for a review and I try to adhere to the rules of the group. I spend maybe a half-hour two or three times a week posting- I post straight from Amazon along with a quote from a review, then I tweet it as well.

Anita Dickason (anitadickason) | 220 comments I have had some luck with FB ads. Both in sales, and subscribers to my newsletter.

Thant's great, Anita!

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments That should probably be one of my 2022 goals, to do more promos like that. I just have so little time and hind it hard to focus properly on it right now.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I'm in the same boat, Dale. I've * this thread to come back to after Christmas and meanwhile all I can do is say a big thank you to Carole!

I was hoping we could get a discussion going with this group.

Yeah . . . maybe we're the only three still checking in here??

Ah but we're the best! Or are there some other 'bests' out there?

message 12: by Carmel (new)

Carmel Hanes I read the posts but have little to offer. I've only written the one book and have given up advertising. I have tried running ads on FB, but not posted to groups. I saw no discernible action resulting from ads there, but also know my knowledge of how to do so is limited. It's been discouraging and with only one book to offer I'm limited in how effective any effort is.

It costs nothing to post to groups. Look for groups in your genre- ones with interested readers. I have joined dozens of FB groups. They have names like Free book promotions or Authors promote your books here. It's boosted my sales substantially.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Thank you so very much Carole. I'm a duffer when it comes to social media.

Believe me, I was too. It's all about just pressing buttons and seeing what happens.

message 16: by Carmel (new)

Carmel Hanes Thanks, Carol. I'll check that out. I've become gun-shy about groups because people are so negative about feeling"spammed" that I'm afraid of offending and being banned just bringing it up anywhere. But if you've had some success, that might be worth looking into. You have always been so kind about passing along ideas and helping others out. I have always appreciated that.

My pleasure. Make sure you read and follow the rules. You'll be fine. Make a spreadsheet so you'll remember.
