Hilde Helseth I'll be starting of slow this year. I have 8 library books at home and aiming at finishing 4 of them before the New Year, and I'm on a waiting list for 4 more.

Hilde Helseth I just learnt today that one of the books I've been waiting for is reddy to be picked up. Since I'm trying to finish 2 books this weekend, I intend to go to the library on Monday, and since the book is a new knitting book, I'll probably finish it before the new year.

Hilde Helseth These are the first books for January:

1. Historien bak Oslos gatenavn by Erlend Tidemann by Erlend Tidemann

2. Hardangervidda - med Skaupsjøen/Hardangerjøkulen landskapsvernområde og Møsvatn Austfjell landskapsvernområde (Norges Nasjonalparker, £1) by Per Roger Lauritzen by Per Roger Lauritzen

3. Norges Nasjonalparker Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella by Karl H. Brox by Karl H. Brox

4. Rondane og Dovre (Norges Nasjonalparker, #8) by Finn Bjormyr by Finn Bjormyr

The first one is about street names in Oslo, the capital of Norway. This book showed up on a mailing list from a book/comics store in Oslo that I have bought some comics from from time to time.

Book 2-4 are about National Parks in Norway. I found the series of 11 books while looking for the book Dovrefjell i tusen år - mytene, historien og diktningen by Gro Steinsland, which I read earlier in December. I searched for 'Dovre' and 'Jotunheimen', and read the one about Jotunheimen by Per Roger Lauritzen at the beginning of December, and have 2 ch left of the book Svalbard by Stein P. Aasheim.

Since only the book about Santa Claus, Julenissen by Pia Strømstad, of the 5 books I'm on the waiting list for had arrived before Christmas, I decided to get the 3 books about National Parks instead. Luckily my local library have all 11.

Hilde Helseth Since the new christmas book I was waiting for did not arrive for me as of today Dec 30th, I removed myself from the waiting list. I'll take another shot at it for Christmas 2022 instead.

But I got another book:

5. Tormod Torfæus - ei innføring by Torgrim Titlestad by Torgrim Titlestad

This book is a short biography and introduction to a history of Norway by Tormod Torfæus, written in Latin that is now available in a Norwegian translation. (Not when this book was published in 2001). That history consists of 7 books, and they are on my wish list.

Hilde Helseth I have started reading Historien bak Oslos gatenavn by Erlend Tidemann, I'm at page 123 of 429, and this will be my main read this week since I intend to hand it in before/at its due date Jan 7th. After that it's on to my Swedish history books.

Hilde Helseth I had decided at the end of 2021 that I shouldn't follow a reading challenge this year since I never finish, but then a Norwegian reading challenge from Facebook showed up on lists at the Norwegian version of Goodreads, bokelskere.no, and I'm at it again. This list has 26 prompts, and I have finished 4, and close to finish a 5th among my own books.

And that leads me to the book I picked up at the library today,

6. En hyllest til sauen. Fortellinga om det lille dyret som bygde landet by Anna Blix by Anna Blix

a book about sheep for the prompt 'A book with a farm animal on the cover', completely forgetting that one of my Swedish history books, the one about 'The Wild West' has a picture of a mounted cowboy.

Well this book was on my wishlist, and I was expecting an A-4 sized book, but it was tiny. Only 4,5 x 6,75 inches.
