I am going to be a 1-10 Novice Hiker this next year

I'm in for 21-30 Advanced Hiker. I love World War 2 Christian Fiction and there is so much of it out there now.

But us little people down here who needs to apply for a Visa actually needs two different ones for the actual Europe countries and then one for UK as well. But I can see on the map in the big picture if all could be Europe. Just thought interesting information 😝

Whoa, really?! Wow, I had no clue that would cause visa problems. Thanks for sharing that intriguing info, Sarita! I've only traveled in the U.S. so far, so I haven't had need to learn all the ins and outs of international traveling requirements, but I do so love geography, so it's always fun to hear about things like that.

I will join in - Expert Hiker. Though it will probably be more, I read lots of historical fiction, mostly WWII.

Hi Sarita,

Yes, we are still in the continent of Europe. It's the European Union Britain left. Not all countries in Europe belong to the European Union - it's something you sign up for to belong to.

So, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (UK) are still in the continent of Europe, just left the Union. The Republic of Ireland is still in the Union.

There are still countries of Europe that aren't in the Union. Switzerland isn't. Neither is Norway or Denmark, to name a few.

Only 27 countries are part of the European Union at the moment, and that's where the Schengen Zone happens (no national borders) that allows free passport movement between the countries.
(Although I'm not sure if the Schengen Zone is something you sign up for separately after you've joined EU so can make a choice as to whether you're part of the Zone or not, or whether it's automatic when you join. I think there are choices you can sign up to when you join as to what you want to do and you can abstain from others if you want to.)

I'm going to look at the challenges properly when I have more time and see what I am going to sign up for. We look like we have another good selection to choose from. Thanks Loraine, Staci and Andrea!
