LOL, I think we've all done that. I have a lot of questionable freebies, I've read some and I was pleasantly surprised. Hopes yours are enjoyable, too.

Good luck Beth - how much over 100? I should probably do a cull of the free books I've had for nearly a decade. I have cheated with some of the omnibus/box sets and just read one at a time and use the relevant book on here - doesn't get them off the kindle, but some of mine are 12/14 books in one, so they seem much more manageable that way

Thank you! I did two box sets for my 2021 12+4 and many of these are YA fantasy/ science fiction so they shouldn’t be too taxing on my brain 🙄

There are 125 sets, never counted individual books….there are about 5000 titles in my kindle… at least they don’t clutter the house like physical books 😉

Yes, that is one of the things I like about the kindle too!!

Perhaps off-topic, but the font in print books can occasionally be rather small, or otherwise difficult (uncomfortable) to read, but can be adjusted for on an ereader.

So true! And while I love the smell of physical books sometimes they are just too clunky (big hard covers)

I loved the Six of Crows duology, and definitely need to read the beginning of the Grishaverse.

Finished my first box set, Kacy Chronicles Boxed Set: The Revelations of Oriceran. 💖💖💖 the world building was piggy backed off of what Karl and Anderle had already set up in this universe. Had great potential but was slow to start then rushed to coherently close the loose ends. Development could have been handled better but overall a decent, light fantasy.

Finished my second set, Heller Brothers Hockey. Decent romance series about brothers in the NHL.

Can not believe I had so much time to read this month! Twelve sets still seems like an impossible goal let alone sixteen.

Yippee finished box #4 maybe I will complete this challenge!

I wish! LOL They have just been lingering on my kindle and I need motivation to either read or delete.

Finally I have finished another box set. Glad I powered through the first part of the year! Should have gone with Six of Crows Set but instead went with Insanity: The Complete Books 1-3 by Cameron Jace. This box set is the first three books of his 11 book series involving a “retelling” of Alice in Wonderland.

If you are a big fan of the story you might like this reinterpretation. Set in the present it starts with Alice in a mental institution with another resident Mr Pillar getting her day passes to help solve a missing girls investigation with a suspect Cheshire. Is Alice just from the “Underground” (Wonderland) like many of the other characters hiding in the “real world”. Nancy Drew on an acid trip at times.

Imaginative but missed the mark for me.

I am tempted by Insanity since I am drawn to retellings (and actually tried to write an Alice... one way back when I used to do nanowrimo) but the reviews aren't great. Still, pretty cheap.

I got it either free or less than a dollar on kindle years ago. I have no idea how it’s done but I have seen others mentioning borrowing others kindle books. If you have a kindle and know the process I will gladly transfer it to you.

I think I did the lend thing years ago, but my kindle fire is so old - I don't think it's even supported now. I often read on the cloud or a tablet with app. Plus it's still cheap (2.99 I think for the trilogy, maybe 3.99) so I will just get it if/when I get back into fantasy reads again (I am a genre switcher :) Thank you so much for the offer though.

Well I hope you enjoy it when you get it. There are 11 books that I know of so someone is enjoying the series.

Finally finished my 10th box set, The Six of Crows Duology Boxed Set. I really enjoyed this duo set. Great world building and enjoyable character arcs. 4+ stars.

Fingers crossed I can get at least two more sets read to hit a total of 12. Finishing all sixteen this year is probably not going happen but I’m ok with that.

I mean, technically, you've BEEN done with this challenge; because of the amount of individual books you've read from the list.

You've really done well with reading an entire set of books and then counting them as 1 book. Great job, Beth!

Finished my eleventh box set, Elemental Origins: The Complete Series by A.L. Knorr. This set included 6 books and 2 novellas. Enjoyable YA Fantasy about 5 teen girls getting supernatural powers. As the title states it is the origin stories and as of now 3 of the 5 girls have their own spin off book series.

It is the end of October and am uncertain if I can read another box set. Did a count today and the 11 sets total 71 books and 2 novellas. My GR read count for the year to date is 189 and that is counting each box set as one book 🤯 That equates to having reading about 250 books. 🤯🤯 Probably just going to read what ever seems interesting for the next two months and hopefully complete some other challenges. Not going to stress about goals🏆

Beth, you've done fantastic! 11 box sets is amazing. It's my dream to finish out a bunch of series, like you've done! Maybe one day...enjoy your reading the rest of the year!

Thanks Lea. I now find I am hesitant to start a series now because if I get into it I want to continue immediately. That is what usually derails my goals,lol.

I can understand that; I feel very similar. I have about 50 series in some stage of completion, and I really want to get back to all those books before starting too many new series. I'm too much of a completist, and all of these series are a huge time commitment.

Wow, I haven't even read 71 books this year! I try and finish one series a year (don't count how many I start though!)

Wow, that's fantastic! I agree, series are big commitments, and I think twice now before starting another one. I have way too many going...but then it comes a time when I don't care about it anymore, and start a few more, and so the problem compounds. 🤣

Ah, when I have insomnia I watch more TV, for some reason that makes me sleepier than reading - with reading I just get tired eyes that want to read one more chapter, but brain isn't tired enough to sleep!
