Who is your favorite author? Read a book they've written that you haven't gotten to yet. If they have a new release out this year, even better!

Megan Oh | 4 comments The first book I read this year wasn’t a new book, but a new to me book by Katherine Arden. The Bear and the Nightingale by her is one of my all time favourites, so I read the Girl in The Tower. It was good, though not as much so as the first in the trilogy. Now where to squeeze in the the third….

My first book by Becky Chambers was The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, from Build Your Library Level 11. She quickly became one of my favorite authors.
A Psalm for the Wild-Built is a contemplative novel, one to read cozied up with a cup of tea and a highlighter or two. And then a long walk to mull over the content.

Suzanne Halekas | 36 comments I read The Constant Rabbit by Jasper Fforde for this one. It was an interesting idea, and written with classic Fforde absurdity-as-reality style, but it wasn’t a favorite of his for me.

Nikki (mnnikki) | 164 comments For this prompt I selected They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us by Hanif Abdurraqib because I enjoyed a different one of his books recently and this was a good excuse to read another. It was about the tough times of 2016 but also memories of concerts he's attended and personal stories. I recommend it.

Alternately, I've read most of the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire this year so that is definitely a favorite now!
