Welcome to the Book Fairy Program <3

The Book Fairy is a program initiated by one of our members who wants to spread a little joy in these crazy times by giving the gift of reading (…and book hoarding).

If you’re interested in receiving a free book of your choice, you need to meet a few humble criteria:

1. Sign up in this thread by sharing a small list of books on your wishlist.

2. We primarily ship from Book Depository, so please indicate in your post if you can receive books from them.*

3. You must be an ongoing, relatively active participant on FBR. We are not looking to take advantage of our generous benefactor, so please note that if you’re new to the group, your overall quality of participation will be taken into account if your name is chosen (y’all know the comment spammers we get for the team comp - this criteria is to hopefully avoid more of that). Generally, all members with more than 100 thoughtful comments are eligible.

And that’s it! Our book fairy is amazing and generous, and I’m so happy to be involved with this program. The purpose is to spread as much joy through reading as we can. It’s meant in good spirit and we welcome any of our wonderful, participating members to sign up. You may have heard of our workings behind the scenes - we’ve been running it intermittently over the last couple of years on the down-low, but now we are taking the program a bit more public. You can still sign up even if you’ve already received a book from us in the past (in fact, we encourage you to).

If your entry is chosen, rather than posting here, I’ll contact you via Goodreads messenger and we’ll go from there.

Names will be selected on the week beginning Monday, December 27th, so sign up before then if you want to be a part of the first wave. :)

*We also will gift ebooks and audiobooks via Amazon, but I believe that only works if you’re in the states, as that’s where I ship from. So if you have any info on better ways to get books to you, please let me know once you are contacted. Thanks!

Here are a few on my wish list. I can receive books from Book Depository. Thanks, this is such a fun idea! Any format is good, except mass market paperback. I have a hard time reading those with fibro. It hurts my hand to hold the book open for long periods of time.

This is definitely a generous offer and I am not going to shy away from entering. If I get chosen, I like any physical format of books(I just need to hold it and feel it, reading comes later. Lol). I'm also really enjoying seeing what folks are requesting, and thinking "ooh, that was a good book!" or "ooh, I want to read that too!" Sometimes even "ooh, I think I have an extra copy of that lying around somewhere..."

I appreciate all the sign-ups! As I’m away from my work computer for the holiday, I will be contacting our first recipient on Monday. Nice way to start out the new year. :-)

Ohhh Narilka that's not a great way to spend the first bit of the year. I've heard kidney stone are horrible things. Hope you feel better now its gone!
