Kevin Bryant (kevinbryantauthor) | 11 comments Hi everyone!

If you like reading about espionage (not just sports), you're going to enjoy my book, Spies on the Sidelines: The High-Stakes World of NFL Espionage, being published by Rowman & Littlefield. It details all of the collection techniques NFL teams utilize to gain a game day advantage over their opponents, as well as the countermeasures employed to defend against these. The entre history of the league is covered and the book contains anecdotes from every NFL team. You will not believe all the crazy tactics that NFL teams use. Some of the stories belong right in the depths of the Cold War.

You can view advance reader reviews on my Good Reads author site: https://www.goodreads.com/kevinbryant.... Also, please check out my website at https://spiesonthesidelines.com (you will also find a 30% off discount code there).

Thanks!
Kevin

What a great subject for an author to tackle

Seriously, I'd never thought much about this aspect of sports. I hate football and baseball. But it is indeed fascinating and I am glad someone has documented the history. Good job!

When I used to follow sports --back when I gave a damn --I was incensed at the New England Patriots; and branded them the scummiest franchise in the league.

I would still feel that way if I had time anymore to give to such topics.

p.s. what happened was, even what the Patriots did became passe' at some point; there was so much else going wrong with sports that it was just one among many other items that made me livid

Like those godamned New Orleans Saints putting out 'bounties' on other teams' players. And ...getting away with a wrist-slap!

Or, how about that Joe Paterno scandal?

I just got sick of all the filthy low-lives in the whole industry. From top to bottom they're all scumbags, in my view these days..

Kevin Bryant (kevinbryantauthor) | 11 comments There is certainly always some shady business going on in the NFL. The one conclusion I reached after researching the book was spying in the NFL takes place 365 days a year and it started way before Belichick ever came along. I've got it all in the book. It's insane! You'll never look at football the same after reading Spies on the Sidelines.

Kevin, I received your message. Okay, I'll circulate a small announcement about this. Can you clarify exactly what the deal is? You initially self-published this work, made it available via Amazon and now its being picked up by a publisher? That what happened?

Reminder: Espionage Aficionados is a modest sized group. One of the others I moderate has over 2,000 members. You should really promote this there...

Hans Ostrom | 38 comments Per the previous discussion of Len Deighton: I see there's a 1983 Thames TV interview with him on Youtube. I started watching the "Game, Set, and Match" miniseries. It looks okay so far--although Ian Holm doesn't quite fit my image of Samson. I'm reading WINTER, which only technically is a Samson novel--but he arrives late in the novel and is relatively peripheral (and very young). It's an historical novel about a German family, two of its brothers, and connected families from England and America. Enjoying it a lot.

It has simply been available for preorder for 3+ months and is finally nearing its release date (13 July). Thanks a ton for the announcement. Much appreciated. www.spiesonthesidelines is the website. Feel free to use any material from there in the promotion. What is the group you moderate with 2000+ members? I'll look into promoting the book there.
