Personality: Described by Shuichi Saihara as "the human embodiment of a lie", Kokichi is a schemer who compulsively or pathologically creates lies and while putting on his villainous persona he freely states whatever he's thinking, regardless of how it makes others feel.
History: Kokichi's past is very unclear due to his constant lying and the fact that he strictly refuses to reveal anything personal about himself. In fact, the only thing known about his life for sure is his love of video games and that he's been playing them his whole life.
Kokichi was brutally sexually assaulted daily, and lied to himself so that his abuser wouldn't break him. It was also so he would be entertaining enough that he wouldn't be made to suffer more.
During the killing game, Kokichi lies that he is the supreme leader of a large, evil secret society. Obviously, there is no evidence of it and the Ultimate Detective, Shuichi Saihara, does not know any organization matching with the one Kokichi mentioned.
It is in fact been documented as a disorder known as Compulsive Lying Disorder, which, while not an official disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), is recognized by most psychologists as one.

Whilst caring for the others, Mikan caught the Despair Disease herself, causing her to remember "her beloved". After Ibuki and Hiyoko were murdered, Monokuma quickly healed the victims and brought them to investigate the murder. Although everyone is cured of their symptoms, Mikan continued to remember "her beloved".

What Makes Her Pure Evil? Due to her boredom as the Ultimate Analyst, she found a new obsession towards causing despair and, to that end, set about completely crushing the concept of hope.
Junko Enoshima has Anti-Social Personality Disorder, specifically Sociopathy. Some people would say she's a psychopath, but I feel like she would more likely have a severe case of Sociopathy, as opposed to Psychopathy. By severe I mean, it's gone untreated for so long that it's made her fairly unstable.

History: After his parents' death, during middle school, Nagito was kidnapped by a serial killer; he was released after the police found him (it was implied that the killer let him go after they found out nobody would pay the ransom).
this is compounded by the fact that he is revealed in his Free Time Events to have a degenerative brain disease slowly eating away at his ability to think rationally, which could kill him at any moment.
After Junko's death, Nagito became the Servant for the Warriors of Hope as well as a member of Remnants of Despair listed by the Future Foundation, trying to make Monaca Towa carry on Junko's legacy.
After Junko was executed, Nagito cut off his left hand and put hers in its place. He believes he did it because of his hatred towards her and to steal some essence of her power, but it's strongly implied that he, just like the other members, obsessed over her.
Nagitos hair is actually brown, like Makotos, but it turned white because of his illnesses and all the stress in his life. That's why the bottom of his hair has this light brown tone
Nagito's obsession from hope comes from his luck cycle. After so many good, but also bad things happened to him, because of his luck Nagito began to develop a strong faith in hope, so that he could find some meaning in his life.

Personality: Chiaki is a calm and quiet individual. She seems, at first, to be a little asocial, but eventually opens up, and becomes a lot more talkative when discussing games. She is quite analytical and enjoys learning new things, leading her to ask questions often.
History: Chiaki and Usami were created and sent into the Neo World Program by Future Foundation as a mole. Chihiro Fujisaki, who she referred to as her "father" was the one who created her while Alter Ego, who she referred to as her "big brother" was the one who modified her to be Chiaki.
Chiaki is human, and is a student of Hope's Peak Academy, later becoming the class representative of Class 77-B. The AI Chiaki Nanami featured in Danganronpa 2 is based off of her classmates' collective recollection of her.
In Chapter 5 of Danganronpa 2, it's revealed that Chiaki is an AI created by Alter Ego alongside Usami as the Observer of the Neo World Program. She revealed her identity as the traitor of the group in the fifth trial to save the students from being executed for voting the wrong culprit.
Monokuma decided that he would execute Monomi alongside Chiaki because since Monomi is not a student he wasn't bound by the rules of the killing game. Both Chiaki and Monomi accepted their fate for the sake of the surviving students, willing them all to not give up on their futures.
Chiaki's death in Despair Arc is very similar to Mukuro's death in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc: being suddenly impaled by dozens of spears. The deaths also double as acts of betrayal from those who were closest to them (Junko, in Mukuro's case, and Chisa, in Chiaki's case).

It's heavily implied that Haiji used to be physically abusive towards Monaca, but he felt at least some pity for her when he thought he had permanently paralyzed her by accident. Though Monaca was happy and childish on the outside, she felt like dying. It's implied that she was physically abused, too, and one time she pretended to be badly wounded as a result. She started to pretend to be paraplegic because she was finally treated with some kindness and she could have more control over people.

History: In the past, according to Korekiyo, he had an incestuous relationship with his older sister. He believed it was true love and he didn't care what the society thought of them. However, at some point, his sister died due to an illness. Kiyo also has a split personality, similar to that of Toko Fukawa/Genocide Jack, but unlike Toko who had a multiple personality disorder, Kiyo's split personality is a tulpa based on his aforementioned sister and serves more as a coping mechanism over his personal grief and torture that he had suffered years before. Korekiyo's sister is a Posthumous Antagonist from Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony, she was Korekiyo's abusive sister that abused him into an incestuous relationship with her influencing him even after her death.
Other: He wears the mask wherever he goes, no matter where he goes, and he even owns different masks for eating, showering, and other daily activities. When his mask is removed, it is revealed that he wears lipstick as the appearance of his tulpa that was based on his late sister.

History: Minado is a distant cousin of the Pro Hero Hawks. But he does not know that. He was abused by his father at a young age, causing him to run away from home at the age of twelve. None of the Teachers know this, believing he still talking to them.
