I loved The Midnight Library.
Elly Griffiths is one of my favourite authors but I haven't read The Postscript Murders yet - it's in my to-read pile but I have read all her Ruth Galloway books

I’ve read all Ruth Galloway books too - love Elly Griffiths books.
The Postscript Murders is signed - she was at Bloody Scotland in Stirling this year which was fantastic

I'm considering maybe going over for it in 2022. If I remember right I watched her session virtually. I've seen a couple of other webchats with her this year which were great, she seems such a lovely person

Bloody Scotland is great fun. Spend the day author spotting about town as well as the great events / book signings. Would recommend it - so fortunate that it’s local for me

Fiona | 195 comments First book completed

The Great Silence by Doug Johnstone

Third book in The Skelf series - crime with dark humour and wonderful characters. This was supposed to be the last book in the series but heard whispers of two more - fingers crossed.

5 stars

Fiona | 195 comments Second book completed

My Name is Jensen by Heidi Amsinck

First book by Danish journalist based in London. Saw author at event at Bloody Scotland 2021 - crime book event in Scotland. Signed copy purchased. Looking forward to what I presume will be the Jensen series set in Copenhagen.

message 22: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 195 comments Third book completed

The Fell by Sarah Moss

I love the author’s writing style and her observations of ‘ordinary’ life. I loved Summerwater her previous novel. This book is set during the pandemic so may not be for everyone.

4 stars

Closed Casket by Sophie Hannah

Hercule Poirot written by Sophie Hannah as I’m a huge Agatha Christie fan. I’ve never been a fan of other writers taking over a series however I have enjoyed the two previous Sophie Hannah Poirot books that I’ve read.

Fiona | 195 comments Eleventh book completed

The Sound of the Hours by Karen Campbell

Story set in wartime Italy in the hills around Barga - young Italian meets American ‘Buffalo’. Learnt loads about the WWII in that area of Italy (and I discovered another book based around the Sant’Anna massacre on my TBR shelves)
And a little added interest as we are travelling to Pisa / Lucca in a few weeks

Definite 4 stars

Fiona | 195 comments Twelfth Book completed

The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak

Loved all Elif Shafak books that I’ve read and this one didn’t disappoint. I have a real love of trees so a book that includes a tree as in essence a character made me smile.

Book set between London and Cyprus and pieces together the story of Kostas and Defne and that of a divided island, its people and its natural world.

5 stars

I had read Circe by the same author as a local book group read - it was excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book too although I think Circe would be my favourite

4 stars

message 50: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1135 comments Congrats on finishing! I loved Circe as well and would like to do a reread at some point. It seems I've either read one of your books or have it at the top of my toppling TBR. Enjoy the rest of your list!
