The next 12 books is the "Plus" part of the challenge. Hope you enjoy and are able to find some great books that will fit in.

11. A book set in a different country than you live in.
The Girl Who Died (Iceland) by Ragnar Jonasson. **Finished**

12. Read a book by an Author that you never read before or one by a new debut author.
The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks. **Finished**

13. A book that someone recommended to you.
Blacktop Wasteland by S.A. Crosby
**Finished**

14. A book that is a different genre than your normal type of read. (could be out of your comfort zone).
The Candy House by Jennifer Egan. **Finished**

15 & 16. Two books from a series you haven't completed yet. (Everyone has that one or two books to still read to catch up in a series)
The Wanted by Robert Crais. **Finished**
A Dangerous Man by Robert Crais.
**Finished**

17. A book that comes out in 2022.
Easy peasy. Nine Lives by Peter Swanson. **Finished**

18. A book that you meant to read in 2021 but never got around to it.

19. A book that came out before you were born. (this one might be harder to do but we know you can handle it)
The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie. First published in 1920. **Finished**

20. A book that is done by more than one author (it can be a book of short stories by different authors, or one book that is one story with more than 1 author like Patterson or Evanovich and I'm sure there are others.
Women Crime Writers: Four Suspense Novels of the 1940s: Laura / The Horizontal Man / In a Lonely Place / The Blank Wall

21. A book that won an award. Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. **Finished** I thought this should have gotten major awards but it was runner-up/finalist for a few. Still, awards for 2020 Goodreads Choice Award for History & Biography and the AudioFile Earphones Award for the audiobook edition in 2020 counts.

22. One of the oldest to be read books on your unread mountain.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Thanks DJ for setting this up again. I can't begin to think about what I'll read in 2022 until I finish up 2021 but wanted to get set up. #22 is especially intirguing--the oldest TBR in my stack.

Like DJ I'm going to try to focus on my owned and unread books, but it gets tricky with all the group reads and next in line for some of my favorite series. We'll see!

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments So, a group I belong to on GR (that I never read with because I have so many books to read already!) is doing a reading challenge called "Movies from Books" or something like that. I never realized that the classic film "Laura" was based on a book until I saw the book they are reading next, Women Crime Writers: Four Suspense Novels of the 1940s: Laura / The Horizontal Man / In a Lonely Place / The Blank Wall. I immediately requested it from the library and noticed that it fits #20 nicely -- a book with more than one author. Can't wait to read it!

Donnajo | 4351 comments That's great, off to a great state. If I ever get started on the feb library book read I’m sure I can put it down for one of the prompts new to me author, or another.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments The book I just finished, The Girl Who Died by Ragnar Jonasson could have fit under several categories --new to me author, book recommended -- but I decided to put it in the category of books that take place in another country (Iceland). It was set in a remote part of Iceland and the setting really drove the story. One down, twenty-one to go!!

Donnajo | 4351 comments That’s great. Same thing happened to me but i can always switch books around later in year. Figured it’s better to stick in a harder prompt. I was surprised with the published before I was born didn’t realize Passing originally came out in 1930 something.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments I just added a book published before I was born...The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie, her first Hercule Poirot published in 1920. I'm thinking about working my way through her catalog, but I can't go too fast or I won't get very far in my DL!! Most of them will be a re-read although lord knows I won't remember most of the plots, LOL.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Also added my book published in 2022 -- Peter Swanson's Nine Lives of course! And have decided to catch up on the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series so just put down The Wanted, which I just started.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16925 comments Carol: I picked a Christie book for my "before you were born" book too! Great minds think alike!

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Slowly making my way through. I finished my two Robert Crais series books I've been trying to get caught up on. Also finished Blacktop Wasteland, which I originally listed as a book I meant to read last year, which is true, but I moved it to the book that was recommended to me, as it was first recommended by Dan and then others here like Ann and Barry I think also read it and rated it highly. And I have plenty of other books I meant to read last year, LOL. All I have to do is look at my list of books I returned to the library unread.....

Now I need to make some headway in books 1-10, which I said were going to come from my owned books.

message 14: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4351 comments good for you. I'm working on the recommended one on audio and I went though a bunch of books the morning and pulled out a few I want to read sooner rather than later I just have to get though 2 arcs and 3 library books (I is the library book club one for june) once I get though those I still have one net galley for live in july and a few library holds that I'm sure I'll won't get for awhile. I only have 3 to do for top 10. The recommended one which I'm working on. And #22. which I have no idea what has been on my to be read mountain the longest. It might be a guess on that one LOL.

message 15: by Carol/Bonadie (new)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Yeah, I don't know how I would determine one of the oldest books on my TBR either, I have a lot of books and many of them have been there for decades. I'll do my best guess!

message 16: by Carol/Bonadie (new)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Added #14 and #21. Getting there. Have another on my bedside table but as it's a hardcover and lagging behind another DL book it may take a while to get to. Also, need to pick an old book from those I own.

message 17: by BarryP (new)

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments I figure if I pick a book up off the TBR shelf and the pages are yellow and start to crumble, I have had it for a while. My hardcover TBR is down to about 15 books, my Kindle TBR to 7, but I still have well over 100 paperbacks.

Donnajo | 4351 comments That’s great. My to be read books are so many would be hard to count never would be able to read them all. Feels like they never go down and it’s not like I buy a lot to add I mean only print ones not counting ebooks. Once I finish top ten I’m starting another post with an additional top ten to be motivated to get more read. Working on #10 now. The oldest one it between two started.
